Hi guys & gals!
I'm new to this website but grew up listening to all the classic LPs from Queen to the Miracle, so hope i'm not out of place beseeching some info from dedicated fans...
I know Brian May is a bit of an internet nerd, with his soapbox etc. Which is great to see famous folk mixing it up with the public.
I recently sent an email to him regarding him contributing a small video message to a very dodgy anniversary dedication song i knocked up in my home studio.
My deadline is 17th Feb.
My question is.... do i have any hope in Hell of a reply? Would he do something like this i.e. "..hope you have a great day guys..." (wink....) ????
My vid is under wraps from my wife until 18th feb... link
It will only make you squirm with pain - but would Brian be too busy, is there any precedent?
Regards,
Dave
Brian does reply - sometimes. It usually depends on how busy he is at the time. I have had at least 2 replies from him.
What I would suggest is that you dont pin your hopes on getting a reply. That way, if you do get one it will be a nice surprise in a way.
Only carefully selected messages actually make it to Brian. His staff filter out any messages they consider critical, irrelevant or otherwise unworthy of Brian's attention. Whether or not a message actually makes it through is mostly a matter of luck, it appears. But yeah, messages do reach Brian from time to time, you just can't count on it.
Thank you for the advice. I will try and keep an non-response from Brian in perspective... he's famous, talented and busy!
I noticed someone (?) has tagged the video as "disputed composition" or something like that. Goodness me, can you not just do a joke/personal cover without record companies being upset? I even added a link to the official Flash Gordon video at the end? Maybe i'm bringing the good name of Queen into disrepute. lol!
Brian will only answer if you mention the following:
We Will Rock You-the musical: saying how wonderful it is and how many "Oliviers" it should of won by now.
Badgers/TB: how strongly you agree with him on the subject and how nasty farmers are.
His hair: pretend you are Suggs from Madness and call him a "poodle".
the Cosmos: no.not the album, the Universe thingy, try and post a pic if you can..
3D stereo photos: preferably of Anita Dobson giving RT a blow job..
if all else fails, give up and go to the pub
Really nice video. You have a lucky wife, and I guess if these are your sentiments at 16 years you are a lucky guy. :)
I know that Brian specifically indicates that requests for autographs and such will not be accepted through the website, and I'd imagine this is comparable, on an even larger scale. I would think he would just not have the time to accommodate these kinds of things for all the fans that would want them.
I had another thought, and while I fully acknowledge it might be a really bad thought, here goes: I noticed your wife's name was Kerry. With all of Brian's work with Kerry Ellis there is a bunch of video out there with Brian saying things like "Kerry is great", "Kerry is amazing", "Kerry is wonderful" etc. etc. It might be really fun to cut some of that stuff in if you did it right.
