Most of these guys are either stupid screamo or cheesy radio-friendly bands. I want more bands like White Heart. |
Tranqvillia 31.01.2011 08:01 |
well being a christian is stupid too so it goes hand in hand, religion is man made bullshit to control people. |
lalaalalaa 31.01.2011 09:21 |
What is your problem? I just asked for some good Christian music and you come in here raging about religion. I wish I was a moderator......... |
thomasquinn 32989 31.01.2011 10:42 |
The most recent good Christian music I'm aware of is Messiaen's "Quatuor pour la fin du temps" (1941). Not even Dylan could make Christian pop-music sound half-decent. |

Tranqvillia wrote: well being a christian is stupid too so it goes hand in hand, religion is man made bullshit to control people. =============================================== not always, i may have said this before, but i went with my nan to the vicars house, and his family were amazing! ive never seen a family as loving as they were. there was three children, two girls, one about the same age as me, she had just finished doing some homework, the other girl was older and studying for G.C.S.E's, they were both so cheerful and loved their family dearly, and there was a boy, a bit older than me, he was helping washing dishes, and they were so kind and you could have a proper conversation with them! all of them religious, before i saw this i use to think religion was indeed fucked up because of all tese wars, but this just goes to show, religion is a wonderful thing when you give it a chance, only when you obsess over it and it starts wars dose it become fucked up, but having something to believe in can help with daily life, to make you feel like there is hope and you are wanted, im not religious, i believe in science so basicaly, let people believe what they want to believe, its their choice, and if it makes them happy go for it! please lets not fight over this, P.S no i dont know any good christian bands, sorry hun |
GratefulFan 31.01.2011 12:05 |
There must be some Christian radio streaming on the internet....maybe find some stations and get a sense of what artists you like? Edit: Just read your 'cheesy radio friendly' bit. So, nevermind! :) |
catqueen 31.01.2011 12:56 |
You could try Don Fransicso, Keith Greene or Jars of Clay. I like some Matt Redmond, but some of it might be a bit 'radio-pop type'. |

lifetimefanofqueen wrote: "im not religious, i believe in science" ========================================== Interestingly enough, there are plenty of people who believe in both. Actually, I know people who went to study science in university as atheists and they came out as christians or some other form of spirituality. Everything they learned left them with the question - what great force is propelling all this science I learned about? As for Christian music, forget about the rock bands. Listen to Handel's Messiah or Bach's Excelsis Deo.. it doesn't get much better than those. |
lalaalalaa 31.01.2011 22:02 |
Thanks, guys. I believe in science as much as anyone else. Alchemy is a whole different story though lol. |

Try some Gesualdo, Desprez or Palestrina |

I remember there was an american band called Stryper in the 80's They used to claim they were christians and used to hand out bibles during their gigs. |

well my favourite band is king's x. they were known as a christian band for quite a few of their early years. however the band have pointed out numerous times that they are not a christian band, but a band containing a couple of christians[they are a trio], there is a difference. i am a passionate atheist, and there would be no way on earth i would listen to these guys if i thought they were christians. however in saying that, some songs early in their career[they've been together for around 25yrs i think], do have lyrics that have a religious line or two. their first album 'out of the silent planet' does have 2 songs that are to do with god. the main singer/bassist dug pinnick was a christian for many years. however, a few years ago he finally 'came out' and finally admitted to himself and those around him that he was in fact gay. the church members who he had known for many, many years, more or less told him he wasn't welcome anymore, and that god hates him, and he would have to change!!! he no longer believes in a god! king's x have been described by a past producer of theirs as: 'a mix of the beatles, sabbath, hendrix, with a dash of james brown'. they do have beatle-esque harmonies from time to time. they also often use massive power chords as well. one or two of their tunes have quite a funky swagger to them. i love the band. of course they are past their best these days, but still ok. they were one of the very early bands to use 'dropped d' tuning, apparently. they have heaps of well known musos as fans. every single article on the band usually starts off saying something like:' how is it that this group isn't as massive as u2?' 'why arent they selling loads of records?' 'one of the greatest bands of all-time.' that type of thing. gets mentioned about 99% of the time. people are at a loss as to why this band isn't a household name. they have some fantastic songs, and many years ago they sounded quite different to anything else that was around at the time. some people tend to think that was part of the problem, record companies not being able to promote them well as they were so hard to pigeon-hole. my theory has always been its mainly because they were usually described as a christian band in articles and reviews all those years ago. its been an albatross around their neck ever since, despite the band members saying they are not. anyway sometimes the most talented artists never get well known. the opposite is true as well, look at madonna. if you like a more heavy sound with a loud 12-string bass, then i'd suggest the lp 'dogman'. for a real mixture of styles i'd say 'faith, hope, love' is the one. they are my two favourites anyway. you'd never guess that i'm the president of the official king's x fan club, would you?[i'm not really.] link |

My 2nd favourite band (after Queen of course). Hugely underrated & deserving of way more mainstream recognition. Check out the first 5 albums for their best stuff (just like Queen). Ty Tabor is one of the best guitar players around & developed his own distinctive sound/tone over the 1st 4 albums. Wiked, wiked, wiked!!! As far as other christian bands go definitely check out Stryper. |

I'm not a massive Dylan fan, love the lyrics, but love the voice and harmonica slightly less. But shite? Ooooh, you're gonna be in trouble! And there are some good christian groups. Alice Cooper is a christian since the 1990s! And not in that class, but enjoyable nonetheless, Kieth Green was an excellant musician. As is Don Francisco :D Anyway, i think i said that when the thread came up the first time round lol. |
