Was fortunate enough to play both The Deacy, the original Cornish booster and the Birch guitar at the last 2 Red Special meetups. Also there was the tape fx that BM made. The Cornish '82 pedal-board and lots of other iconic bits of his gear. This year there should also be something/s very 'special' attending........ more info here: link |

Thanks for posting, YV. Absolutely fascinating.... I may have to buy this issue. |

Yes, that was really neat to see/read. Thanks YV. |

So, is it a Telecaster? An Esquire? A Broadcaster? Each time they tell a different story... Next time: it was a Schecter, a Kramer, a Jackson or a Jag. |

Sebastian wrote: So, is it a Telecaster? An Esquire? A Broadcaster? Each time they tell a different story... Next time: it was a Schecter, a Kramer, a Jackson or a JagIf you are referring to what guitar was used for CLTCL, then it appears it may have been a composite of different guitars. Here is what the magazine said - "1967 Fender Esquire Most famous performance - Crazy Little Thing Called Love (The Game 1979) It will be news to most Queen fans, but this guitar isnt actually a 1954 Esquire, as has been reported down the years. Its owned by Queen drummer Roger Taylor, who tells us that he used it on the track Sheer Heart Attack himself, but the four bolt neck plate's serial number dates the body to early 1967. However the neck is almost certainly from later than that (its missing its gold transition logo for a start) and various other details lead us to believe that the guitar comprises parts from several different instruments Brian May: "I never tried [recording Crazy Little Thing Called Love] with the Red Special. What happened was that we were sitting around talking about what we were going to do with the song and I said that I thought it needed that period sound - the James Burton Tele sound. I said to [producer] Mack that my guitar was pretty good at making a sound like the Tele, but he just looked at me and said, "If you want it to sound like a Telecaster, why dont you just use a Telecaster?" Roger just happened to have this lovely old thing lying around, so I picked it up, plugged it in, and it worked. The amp? I dont think it was a Boogie..... the honest truth is that I'd use whatever was lying around. I thought I'd used a Fender amp, actually, but I wouldnt swear to it." Other instruments shown in the mag include - The John Birch Replica Ovation Pacemaker 1615 1978 Fender Telecaster Sheltone Banjo Ukelele Gibson Chet Atkins CE Burns Double Six Skull & Bones Custom (for the vid for Its A Hard Life) |

lifetimefanofqueen wrote: i was jokeing, dont you understand a joke It would have been less of a frightening "joke" if it came from an adult. But seriously, I know you have Asperger's and all, and I know what it was like at your age making dumb jokes that seemed VERY funny at the time, but honestly when you get to be my age, you're gonna shamefully regret and grimace in embarrassment at what you've written 6-12 years ago. In other words, you REALLY need to watch what you do and write on the Internet, cos it can come back and bite you in the ass later on, as I learnt the hard way when I REALLY realized what damage I did to my reputation here on QZ. |

That's true: even after all these years, I still regard inu-liger aka Dark Myutwo (or however it's spelt) as a complete and utter idiot on the same league as Treasure Moment. |

Sebastian wrote: That's true: even after all these years, I still regard inu-liger aka Dark Myutwo (or however it's spelt) as a complete and utter idiot on the same league as Treasure Moment. Oh sod off, you. You can't seriously lump me in the lowest level that TM belongs to, because unlike those rotters, I've actually been in a real band that made FAR better music (IMHO), and surely did a helluva LOT more live shows to boot. And another difference too: I still get along with my ex-bandmates in that band even though I left the group for personal reasons partially relating to internal conflict at the time, unlike a certain "member" of TM here or two. And in case you're too fucking stubborn to take my word on it alone, you're more than free to watch some of our concert videos over at my YouTube page @ http://www.youtube.com/inuliger for verification. Incidentally Sebastian, last night I had a private chat with a very prominent long-standing poster here, and it might comfort you to know that there are certain people here that also feel equally lowly about you as of lately, what with your dick attitude and all. |
Sebastian 23.01.2011 22:28 |
If there are people who feel 'equally lowly' about me, that's something I can't and don't wanna change and, honestly, it doesn't bother me. I do know I haven't got a 'dick' attitude, and that's enough for me. Nobody (or at least very few people) can be liked by everybody, there's nothing more you can do. But I do stand by what I wrote earlier: to me, you're on the same level as Treasure Moment; not in terms of musicality, but in terms of imbecility. And your response strengthens such view. |
Gregsynth 23.01.2011 22:38 |
But unlike Treasure Moment, Inuliger can write in English perfectly well! |

God forbid I should ever meet you at any Queen fan events, Seb. Think of me as an idiot all you want, but I will guarantee you, if you were to ever TALK to me (and I don't mean in a text-only fasion such as on here) one on one, you would actually see there is more to me than just the negative stereotypes about my character than certain judgmental people would never like to move past on. I think Mr Gregsynth can vouch for that! |

A). Has that Birch replica been rebuilt? Last time I saw it was on Brian's Soapbox and it was still in 2 or 3 (or more) pieces. B). As ridiculously clunky and expensive as it must be, compared to a regular tuner, I really want one of those Peterson strobe tuners. What an awesome looking bit of kit! I think I'd let off some dry ice whenever I switched it on, just to let people know I mean fucking business. |

Oh, cheers for the pics! I used to be terrified of breaking my guitars but ever since rebuilding a Strat copy that I blasted into about 8 pieces, I'm not really worried. Truth is, surgery can do a lot of things these days. Any idea how the thing sounds? |

Gregsynth wrote: OK, enough of this bullshit. I've talked to Inuliger numerous times via Skype and Mumble. He's far from stupid, and has an nice sense of humor. Too right Greg. As much as I admit I don't like a lot of the crap lifetimefanofqueen puts on this board, you know what? It may not show now, but I'm actually trying to slowly force myself to be more tolerant towards lifetimefanofqueen, hence my post where I was trying to warn her about the damaging repercussions she could have for her long-term reputation here on QZ if she basically didn't wise up to what she was writing herself, and Sebastian just had to jump in and twist that around as a personal attack on me, which also served to be VERY off-topic. |
Gregsynth 24.01.2011 22:55 |
I don't mind her posts all that much--most of them nowadays, are related to Queen in some way. |
Sebastian 24.01.2011 23:09 |
'Twas not off-topic, Inu: You'd correctly mentioned that certain posts from a long time ago had damaged your reputation and I seconded that by pointing out that, after all these years, I still regard you as a complete and utter imbecile. Which further proves the point you'd just made by then. And no: I wouldn't PM you, just as I hope you won't PM me. We disrespect and dislike each other enough not to waste more time on each other (other than the last couple of days, that is). |
