It's very strange for somebody who remembers Midge Ure from his 70's and early 80's videos to see him how he looks now :-) |

Vali wrote: Rick wrote: Midge is a great singer, but SSOS doesn't suit him at all! Thanks for sharing though! Wow, I disagree, just watched it and thought SSOR was really, really great ! Yeah, after watching the pro-shot version, I'll have to amend my statement. It's pretty good, but Midge is able to deliver more. The recent Ultravox tours (2009 and 2010, yes, they're back together!) prove he still has a very powerful voice. But still I think SSOR is not truly his style. Plus, it's a bitch to sing anyway, whoever does the job. |
bigV 01.01.2011 13:57 |
I suppose you're right. The only cover of SSOR I've heard is by Miracle and even their amazing singer struggles with it. link V. |

@ David Brian needs to eat more fish, his memory sometimes gets in the way of fact :-) IAHL was the highlight of the set, Tom Chaplin was great. Hat's off to Midge Ure too, SSOR was a unexpected and great choice. |

@fairyking87: It is Roger's son indeed, Rufus Taylor! If you watch closely, he adds some nice flavours to the drumming :-) |

TimBHM 02.01.2011 10:02 |
This is fantastic. I'd never really noticed how good Tom Chaplin was before this - what a performance. Has anyone else noticed a jump in the video around 10.59? |
Marknow 02.01.2011 11:03 |
@ Tim I recorded the entire concert, what I was left with was 6 vob files. Vob 5 and 6 make up the Queen portion of the show. The blip is a transition between what originally was two separate video files. The transition should be smoother, but... |
TimBHM 02.01.2011 11:05 |
Ah I see. Do you get the transitional blip if you have all six of the vobs? |
Marknow 02.01.2011 11:33 |
Well, the six vobs equal 6.8 GB, so you should never burn all that to one DVD, the quality will look terrible. It would jump between vobs though, most fan made DVD's do. |
TimBHM 02.01.2011 11:54 |
Yeah I can imagine. I was just wondering if there was some way to extract the relevant chunk of video (using iMovie or somesuch) without incurring the problem of the skip between vobs? |
Marknow 02.01.2011 12:06 |
The blip is there because of the original recording process. My pc was recording live TV, between closing off vob five and creating vob six the pc had a millisecond brain fart. The blip is 3/10 of a second of missing information. The MPEG video on youtube has the same problem at 11.04, the same moment in this DVD. |
mantomen 02.01.2011 12:17 |
Thank you very much for this DVD, it's great! A better new year for you, all! |

Ah I see, thanks for explaining that and please do excuse my ignorance - what I know about how vob files work can be written on the head of a pin! |

Queenman!! 02.01.2011 14:18 |
As said before I was wondering what was done with the original concert sound after broadcasting. This one has had a few pro-tools edits. Just hear the difference between the amateur recording on youtube and this DVD. For example you can hear and see Brian pick the wrong chord after the guitarsolo in IAHL. In this DVD that mistake is completely gone. You guys notice other things.... Always nice to compare |
angermair73 02.01.2011 15:39 |
Great performance. Also from the guest singers. Also some surprises in the setlist. Seven Seas and Hard Life! Rarely played live these days by Brian and Roger. Awesome! |

Well, when I got this kind of problem with VOB files, I turn the arquives into a ISO image file. Usually it works. |

I'm currently making a DVD (sourced from the HD transmission) which will feature all the Queen stuff shown on the main broadcast but also some material broadcast in the behind the scenes show. This includes IAHL with different camera angles as well as brief rehearsal footage. There won't be the slight "problem" featured on this current DVD being torrented. My version should be ready in a few hours. |

I also had the same plan and captured my HD recording yesterday via the SVHS output, but you might save me a job editing it and uploading! Will you be encoding at the highest CBR possible to mantain quality and adding a graphic to the start to say when & where it was recorded (ie Albert Hall, not Sky Arts transmission!) along with the songs featured? |

Just finished the DVD and will upload soon. I downscaled my SKY HD transmission to a standalone Panasonic DVD Recorder at around 8Mbps. There is a menu with individual song access and also the date and title of the gig is included. |
