Which Queen song(s) do you think would really work as good James Bond opening themes? I was watching some Bond recently and it would have been cool if Queen had done one....
Here are some of my picks:
- In The Lap of the Gods (original)
- Death On Two Legs
- Play The Game
- Innuendo (2nd half)
Your thoughts anyone?
I don't think there is a Queen song that would make a good Bond theme, but if I have to chose one, then I would pick The Hitman. Queen do have very nice songs for car chasing and night partying, though.
I guess it just depends on your imagination. Does James Bond ever go into space? Is he ever played by Russell Brand? Does he ever get killed in the movie (the last ever Bond film)? Would there ever be more of a comic book version of James Bond? Could there ever be a gay James Bond? A black James Bond? A female James Bond (with Johnny Depp as one of the conquests - ha)?
So ... anyway ... lots of Queen songs could work really well with a little tweaking, I think. It just depends on the mood you want to set.
Another One Bites the Dust (black James bond)
Back Chat (gay James Bond)
Chinese Torture (Angelina Jolie as James Bond)
Rock It (James in outer space)
Dreamers Ball (Brad Pitt as James Bond)
Coming Soon (Russell Brand as James Bond)
Who Wants to Live Forever (this is the one where James is killed - the last Bond film ever)
I've been a Queen fan since 1992 and a Bond fan since around 1995 and my first thought was "NONE WHATSOEVER".
Someone suggested Play the game and I kinda think it could work with a Bond-like arrangement: brass, strings, basic 'Bondian' guitar riffs, etc.
There's something about the line "Open up your mind and let me step inside..." that screams Bond to me.
On the other hand, I think Freddie would have come up with a kick-ass Bond theme, with the proper instrumentation and sounds, as opposed to using an existing Queen song.
Wiley: There's something about the line "Open up your mind and let me step inside..." that screams Bond to me.
One for the remixers I think - all the individual elements are there.
Play The Game - Instrumental
Play The Game - Acapella
James Bond Theme - Instrumentals...
Can anyone pick up that gauntlet?
I think Staying Power would make a good Bond tune. Imagine a karate chop, a taekwondo kick, a hit on the enemy's left cheek and a gun shot etc against the sound effect of "power...power...power...power...staying power...". The "baby" would of course be Bond's gun.
