OK, I'm going to let some steam out now!
So, I work in a warehouse, and like in many logistics and industrial places, we have one or more radios on all day where we normally stand and work. Now radio here seems to have a severe lack of music because all they play is a few songs, then Rihanna, then some advertisements and then one of the songs with Rihanna and Eminem, a few songs again, more advertisements and Rihanna again! Today I tried to keep track on how many times I heard Rihanna with or without Eminem from 8am until I had the possibility to turn the radio off at 3pm. I do listen to my MP3's in my iPhone all day at work- to avoid the radio, and those few seconds it takes in between songs or when I talked with someone and took my earphones out I'd hear the radio... Don't fall off your chair now!
The *insert your favourite bad word here* radio played Rihanna with or without Eminem about 10 times! I'm NOT joking!
That woman can't get a tone right! She sounds worse everyday than Freddie Mercury must have sounded while having a cold in his teenage years!
Now I don't claim to be a good singer, yet anyways. But I sure do have a better voice than Rihanna!
People who can't sing shouldn't be on radio!
Maybe one day when I feel confident enough with my voice, I'll sing my favourite Queen song and share with you all. But that won't be today, nor tomorrow ;)
OK, I'll get off my soap box now ;)
I seriously don't understand how can anyone listen to Top 40 / mainstream radio and not get sick of it.
it's the same 20 songs in a loop over and over again. Let's put aside the fact that out of those 20 songs, perhaps 1 or 2 are decent catchy songs ( if that many ), but the rest of it is nothing but auto-tune filled garbage.
Thank god for satellite and internet radio, because at least I have choices between genres.
It's a shame that now days ( at least in the U.S. ) regular radio stations keep killing their genre formats so they can fill them up with more mainstream music when there's already plenty of contemporary Hit stations.
The stations they mainly play at work are The Voice and a station called 100FM. Even though I only listen to Queen and Freddie Mercury these days, my playlist of about 80 Queen and Freddie Mercury songs have more variation than The Voice and 100FM put together!
The music of today is just a lot of computer errors, smurf voices and torture screams. My ears cry just thinking about it!
I'm "just" 25 and wasn't even born when Queen had their peak, and I had only just turned 6 when Freddie passed away.
Yet, I can't stand the music of today! Good music died in 1991! All the members of Queen have so much talent in everything they do, there's just no limit! That being said, I'm yet to check out Brian May and Roger Taylor's solo projects. Did John Deacon ever do anything solo?
