Hi
I don't recall seeing any info so far as whether the new Queen deal with Universal Records is inclusive of Brian and Roger catalogue of solo material, plus any future solo recordings - does anyone know?
I would find it strange if the rights to past and future Queen tracks went to Universal but solo stuff remained with EMI, so I'm working on the assumption that Brian and Roger would have been sensible/clever enough to ensure that a solo agreement was incorporated into any deal they struck.
I suppose it's theorhetical that Universal were in no way interested in the solo catalogue and so Brian and Roger could possibly now be without any deal through which to release their solo stuff, but I'm hoping that it is the complete opposite, and that Universal have snapped up the solo archive too, and see fit to push Brian and Roger for release of things like DVDs of solo promo clips, Brian's Albert Hall gig, deluxe editions of solo albums etc.. with unreleased tracks etc...
Cheers
It's highly unlikely their solo contracts with EMI have concurrent connections with the main Queen contracts. Unless someone here knows the privy details of the contracts, it's probably fair to say their contracts may have been drawn up at different times and thus have different expiry dates.
