Since we all now have the complete video from the first night at Earls Court 1977, it would be nice to have an "as complete as possible" version of the second night, too. What is "OUT" already ? "Thank you good evening all you rock'n'rollers" by Freddie - I "guess" this belongs after the opening medley, so maybe between Ogre Battle and White Queen ? What do you think ? Brian's "Do you like the gimmicks ?" + Killer Queen - comes from Rare Live The second half of "You Take My Breath Away" - from Champions of the world Freddie's vocal improvisation between White Man and The Prophet's Song - I'm pretty sure I have seen it in one of the many, many documentaries - does anybody know in which one ? Rock 'n' Roll medley - various unofficial sources, best quality video comes from a bootleg DVD called "Rare Live 2", but still has pretty bad quality parts of Jailhouse Rock - Magic Years God Save The Queen - the same bootleg video as the r'n'r medley beginning of God Save The Queen - Magic Years Are there any other sources ? I don't care how long they are, or how SHORT they are :-) I just think it's simply a good idea to collect all information on one place |
cmi 13.11.2010 07:13 |
I think you have already mentioned all surfaced stuff from this night. Never know about 'Vocal Improvisation' stuff to be leacked. |
pittrek 13.11.2010 07:33 |
I'm pretty sure that I have seen (here ? ) a thread where another short piece of footage from a documentary was identified as being from the second night, I'll try to find it. |
Rick 13.11.2010 09:15 |
The second night complete would be a dream come true. Didn't they play Sweet Lady? Also, the camera angles are much better than the first night. Plus, John is seen hitting the triangle ;-) |
The Real Wizard 13.11.2010 14:20 |
The video of released with the Absolute Greatest package had a few more seconds of chatter before Killer Queen. |
Ale_Pisa 13.11.2010 14:58 |
I think the video is a shot, 1 minute, on the chmapions of the world doc... I don't remember if this video is YMBF |
MERQRY 13.11.2010 18:05 |
Also there's a bit of freddies champagne toast from the Second Night (he spilled all his champagne ha ha) In this video also there are many spots (Without Original Audio) from the Second Night Mixed with the fist Night dubbed with the Good Old-Fashioned Lover boy Audio: link Greetings! |
pittrek 14.11.2010 03:39 |
Thanks for the champagne bit, could you remind me where it can be originally (means pre-Youtube) found ? Thanks |
The Real Wizard 14.11.2010 11:52 |
It's on disc 2 of Greatest Video Hits 1. The footage of Freddie singing and playing the first two verses is definitely from the second night, and of course the champagne bit is too. I think at this point we can be pretty sure the entire show exists in the QP archive. |
pittrek 14.11.2010 12:29 |
Yep. If somebody from QP reads this, both nights would make an excellent bonus to the new remaster of Races :-) |
MERQRY 14.11.2010 16:42 |
No,no the Good old-fashioned Lover Boy of the video is from Greates Flix I (Vhs version) ... The GVH second disc has the "live" mimed performance From Top of the pops. |
MERQRY 14.11.2010 17:57 |
Oh,i'm also pretty sure that a complete recording of the second night exist In the archives! But i don't know why they posted "you take my breath away" from first night (in conjuntion with the absoulute greatest) if the version from the second night is a bit better cause doesn't has the blow amp noise (that they had to remove).... Nor is it on this version, based on one of the customer reviews.. link So where does this video come from.. ? It uses footage that isn't accessible to collectors, so surely it came from QP at some point.. |

The video (on fact the youtube video was made and subtituled in spanish for me) is from a Rare Version from the Greatest flix released Specially and only in Usa.. Apparently Was called "Greatest Hits" and The set list is this: Will Rock You We Are The Champions Another One Bites The Dust Killer Queen Somebody To Love Fat Bottomed Girls Bicycle Race You're My Best Friend Crazy Little Thing Called Love Now I'm Here Play The Game Seven Seas Of Rhye Body Language Save Me Don't Stop Me Now Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy I Want To Break Free Bohemian Rhapsody (Original Version) We Will Rock You - 1991 Remix (Credits) And here there's an image from "snow producciones" web page: link The web master from Snow P. say me a long time ago is a "Do ro" Version of the greates flix but i can't asegurate this cause i don't have any copy of this Vhs. The web master also say me he has a complete (and with excelent quality...altought SP has a little confuse "parameter" for excelent quality ha ha) "Bring back that leroy brown" video From the earls court second night... But again i can't asegurate nothing... Greetings! |

Yes GT, we know it exists. We've seen it ourselves. What we want to know is how much exists? Is the quality consistent? Is there a multi-track of audio in the archives to make a DVD release possible? Even if they just have a mono video feed, that's still good enough for a DVD. It was good enough for The Who for the Kilburn 1977 release. These are the questions we want answered, GT.. not vague responses that amount to nothing more than carrot dangling. You gave a similar (but much more snide) response in a thread related to Paris 2-27-79. Who are you trying to amuse? |
GT 14.11.2010 23:37 |
The 'Greatest Hits' VHS (Hollywood HR401443) that you mention was released in conjunction with the CD of the same name in the USA in 1992, after the success of the 'Classic Queen' compilation CD and VHS. Here's a pic. |
The Real Wizard 14.11.2010 23:56 |
GT, at first you seemed like a breath of fresh air, but now it seems like you and Greg are two heads from the same monster, talking mostly about the Greatest Hits packages, giving only the easy answers, and nothing that interests the true fans. Thanks for posting the scan to confirm the VHS situation, but your initial comment was completely uncalled for. If you scroll through this thread, and this forum as a whole, you see a bunch of people dedicated to locating every small piece of footage, with obvious gaps to fill in, and you choose to go out of your way to indicate that you have the ability to help but won't. Very classy. When will the dialogue between fans and Queen Productions finally become meaningful.. ? Ever? |
GT 15.11.2010 00:20 |
I would like to keep details about certain shows for inclusion in the 'Queen Live: A Concert Documentary' book. Everything you ever wanted to know about Queen in the live domain will be revealed in this publication. People always go off on a tangent in any topic. My help with the 'Greatest Hits' CD/VHS was in response to somebody's question....just like you answered. |

There are plenty of recordings in the hands of fans and stealth tapers that QP doesn't have copies of. No book will ever tell all. The fact that you spent some time downloading audience recordings from this very website clearly indicates that you didn't have all the necessary information at your disposal. All that aside, do you honestly think your book will sell less copies if you post information on a forum? People always go off on a tangent in any topic. This thread is about Earls Court 77, and the tangent was the Greatest Hits VHS. You responded only to the tangent. Pot, meet kettle. |

I have very strange feeling that I saw the moment where Freddie wore a mask during performing some song (it very seems that it was Brighton Rock) from the Earls Court but since first night video doesn't match this moment, it can be from the second night. |

As being said on that particular topic (Crazy Tour) it seems that there is still Queen stuff (multitracks, memorabilia etc) in the personal vaults of Brian May and/or Roger or John that seems to be NOT in the official archive yet of Greg B and QP and known to exist official nor that it has been digitalized and copied Is this true and will all this info be added to the book? update: Sorry for asking.. I just read in that Crazy tour topic, according to user Strangefrontier, that GB knows what's in the personal vault of Brian. |

Benn 16.11.2010 10:55 |
Sir GH, Don't bother wasting your time and energy responding to GT or trying to engage him in any kind of dialogue which might lead him to believe that, somewhere along the line, he will add value to this forum. As we've seen before on all sorts of threads he'll dip his toe in from time to time and make some kind of generic comment which will give rise to some people here believeing their opinion counts or that GT, himself, is really being helpful. He's admitted now to his "Queen Live" book being "option 2" and, therefore, only as complete as he and Greg can make it without having to persuade QPL to part with any cash in order for the book to be made more complete through obtaining material previously unavailable to them. The fun of this forum is in the scope of speculation that goes on and the debate it generates - trying to engage "officials" in any of it to confirm or deny topics and their contents kind of ruins the fun and gives them more legitimacy than they really warrant. |

Somewhere between 2000 and 2006 there was a documentary on UK TV which had footage of Bo Rap from Earls Court. No idea what night it was. Can anyone remember this, or shed any light on which doc it was? Been searching through old tapes but cant find it anywhere. |
Rick 17.11.2010 15:07 |

I share in peoples frustration with the lack of information, but if I was co-writing a book for publishing next year, I wouldn't be posting specific information from it, in the heartland of my target audience. Gary(if you are still here) Do you think it would be possible for you, and maybe even Greg, to do a Q&A here (not QOL)post book release? Just a single thread where fans can ask a few questions about anything the book might throw up, or any other reasonable questions we might have? |
