Tacky cover images. Really poor taste, as usual, from the Jackson crew. |

HAHA!!!! The corpses from Thriller are on the cover?? I hate it when MJ's management pre-empt me on things like this, I was going to have a field day turning him into a rotting corpse. Now I don't even have to try. |
emrabt 08.11.2010 07:13 |
I can see why that song wasn't released, worse than most of the tracks on Invincible. Sounds like they have lowered the vocals digitally too. It's going to be number 1 though, people do weird things when artists are dead. |

another rather ironic note about the cover .....are those cherubs, or just young naked boys with wings, holding the crown? |

the question is: is State of Shock on the album? |
emrabt 08.11.2010 11:17 |
is it just me or is Michaels hand really big in the picture on the right, under the cameras, but above the "leave me alone" roller coaster? Also if you listen to the Michael Jackson vocals buried deep in the mix during the chorus the title seems to be "breaking the noose" |

The cover is a bit odd at first glance, since it'd be something you're more likely to see for a compilation best-of album rather than a new album, but I find it actually grows on you :-) |

The funny thing is that the people in the link claim it's not MJ at all :-) =========================================================== I think the penny has just dropped for most of them, a lot of this stuff is first take demos and ideas that will be reprocessed, auto tuned and pitch corrected beyond recognition to fit new music, then buried behind a tonne of backing vocals in an attempt to hide the work that’s been done on it. This is where queen were lucky, Freddie although a perfectionist, seemed to give a workable take every time, even in the early ad libbed demos we’ve heard. John Lennon on free as a bird is the same, it had a tonne of noise reduction to get rid of tape hiss, i love the song, but lennons vocals are distorted and filtered too much. |

Wow, people are sure going bat-shit crazy with this Jason Malachi conspiracy bullshit all over the YouTube board. I'm very much inclined to believe the more plausible suggestion that they were working with first draft demos, especially having heard the cuts and edits in the a cappella version posted to YouTube. There is no way they'd intentionally hire a soundalike, then make a slight hack job of the vocal performance intentionally! |

The truth as I see it is, these people were hyped up about new stuff from Michael Jackson, they heard it and it was "a disappointing hack job", so they try and find a reason for it not to be good, one person says it doesn't sound like Michael Jackson, and it gets the ball rolling. In reality It's stuff that was never intended to be heard by the public and needed a lot of clearing up, Sony applied thick layers of gloss to what is probably Michael putting down some vague ideas. Sony isn't going to make the biggest music deal in history for Michaels unfinished music just so they can higher a sound alike. That’s like universal buying the Queen catalogue just so they can release cover versions of all the albums. |

The controversy probably wouldn't have been as huge had the money-grubbin' Jackson family not preemptively started the false rumours in the first place - they should be ashamed of themselves, honestly. I can't even believe a word that comes out of their camp these days, they've lost SO much credibility in the last several months. I think they probably don't have anything much to do with the legal business dealings between the Estate and Sony, so they'll use any opportunity they get to ride off his back just to whore themselves out for attention and money. By the way, SPOT ON with your Universal/Queen comparison! |

Well in any case, Joe Vogel has written an online article addressing the accusations and criticisms, and not only does it back up my suspicions that the vocal tracks were taken from rough incomplete takes of the song (hence the frankensteined joining of a few words to make up a line or two in the song!), the reasoning behind it and the details as described by the author and the sources definitely make a HELL of a lot more sense than anything the Jackson family comes up with these days! |

and not only does it back up my suspicions that the vocal tracks were taken from rough incomplete takes of the song (hence the frankensteined joining of a few words to make up a line or two in the song!). ============================================================ The vocals are deeper and have had a lot of auto tuning and pitch correcting done to them, probably, like you say, to hide the Frankensteining and keep everything sounding like one take, but it is obviously Michael Jackson. If the vocals were speed up slightly it would sound more like Michael. People who think Sony would spend millions on getting michaels demos then not use them are idiots. Maybe some good will come out of this and Sony will get some quility control about what things they use in future. Sony would have been better releasing a few box sets of demos, instead of trying to complete this stuff. |
emrabt 10.11.2010 08:06 |
I understand why people are saying it's not him, they arn't used to michaels vocals being this deep. just to prove my point, here is a sample at a slightly higher pitch. much better. The only thing Sonys done wrong here is getting an idiot to "fix" the vocals, all vocals are michaels apart from the chours which are clearly backing singers mixed way to high. If anyone wants to upload this to youtube to prove their point, feel free to. |

I'm going to dedicate my toilet to MJ and call it the Michael Jackson Memorial Pond. I'll take steamy dumps in it every night, and I'd like to think that MJ will be looking down upon me from heaven. True, I'm well over twice the age of his preferred viewing, but what the hey you can't win them all. |

This whole thing has just made me sad all over again. If he had survived the incident he could have done so much good travelling around the world talking to high school students about the dangers of operating theatre grade anesthesia and a too-fluffy teddy bear. Tragic really. |
emrabt 10.11.2010 10:39 |
If he had survived the incident he would have push back the dates at the 02, done one of the shows then cancelled the rest. Then he would disappear again for 5 or 6 months reappearing only to throw babies off balconies at his loving fans. Being dead is the best thing that could have happened to his career, theres no other way he could have giving himself such a clean slate, I’m not going to buy his album but I do love the way everyone’s attitudes switched, mostly famous people. Call me morbid but I love posthumous stuff, they range from either pretty good, or extreamly terrible. it’s great with movies, like plan 9 and game of death. |

^ Because a lot of people and fans included would like to get past the cliche negativities that the tabloid press loved to shove down our throats throughout the years, and would like to try to remember the man for what he was best known for initially: his music? People need to grow up, seriously. Anyways, they've announced a tracklisting plus the first official single: 1. “Hold My Hand” (featuring Akon) 2. “Hollywood Tonight” 3. “Keep Your Head Up” 4. “(I Like) the Way You Love Me” 5. “Monster” (featuring 50 Cent) 6. “Best of Joy” 7. “Breaking News” 8. “(I Can’t Make It) Another Day” (featuring Lenny Kravitz) 9. “Behind the Mask” 10. “Much Too Soon” Source: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/11/11/breaking-news-lawyer-says-its-michael-jacksons-voice "Hold My Hand" will be released as the first official single this coming Monday. |

Because a lot of people and fans included would like to get past the cliche negativities that the tabloid press loved to shove down our throats throughout the years. ===================================================== The thing is Michael started it all off, playing with the media, spreading rumours about himself and making himself into a cartoon character for publicity, the problem was it got out of hand and switched to the media playing him instead of the other way around. He’s not totally innocent in all this, yes things are made up and distorted but there must have been PR people telling him to “act normal”. For example somewhere along the 30 or so years his own people must have told him to get help with his surgery addiction and that after being accused of paedophilia its not a good idea to keep inviting kids to your house. It’s all his own stupidity. You can’t re-write history, people aren’t going to forget all the ‘allegations’ and weirdness just because Michaels dead. Yes it’s the best thing to happen to his career, it’s given him a clean slate, an almost fresh start and put him back in the charts, but what happened happened and people won’t forget it. To Sonys credit, they to seem to have pieced together the album Michael has been working on since 2006, unfortunately it will probably 30 minutes of grunts, howls and screams, like invincible. |

"People need to grow up, seriously" I've always heard that growing up was just something that kids did to avoid being pursued by the scary "Thriller" guy. |
