If anyone wants to discuss/debate/talk or just post stuff about this excellent tour, then this is the place! This tour is often cited as a top tour for the band and (often) Freddie's best vocal tour! Shame that there's only 4 available recordings (Glasgow, 2 Newcastle gigs, and Hammersmith). Here's some potential topics:
1. Was this Freddie's best vocal tour?
2. What caused Freddie's voice to be so awesome?
3. Which is the strongest gig (overall)?
4. The top versions of certain songs
5. Anything else about it
Enjoy!
There are certain topics that I see on the discussion forum and before even opening it I know that a synth started it :)
It would be interesting to here other people's opinions about the tour but unfortunately, I don't think it is fair to judge and completely analyze this tour until we have more recordings available. If only Greg Brooks would stop hoarding some of those recording, but if he is generous enough, and if we get lucky enough in the future, we might have a chance of hearing a Manchester or Bristol show. I'd also love to hear some of those gigs before the Kampuchea concert but we can't hear em all!
Well, together with US NOTW it's probably the tour of which I'd like to hear more shows the most (even though I'm happy with something new from any other tour too).
I remember the first time I heard the 04/12/1979 recording. I was really surprised Freddie hit those high notes. Most of the time he didn't (not that that takes away some of the listening pleasure though, because there was a lot more to Fm's voice than just range).
The frustrating thing is that recordings of this wonderful tour DO exist but the taper decides not to bring them in circulation, which is a shame. I guess there's nothing we can do about that...
I've heard about a tape of the first Manchester show too, that was circulating in the '80's. I guess no-one on here was around then...
Also, Ally PAlly should exist as an unofficial recording...
After listening to both Newcastle shows carefully I have to say I prefer some songs from the first night (like Somebody to love) and others from the second (like Spread your wings).
Glasgow is an even worse recording than the first Newcastle night, so it's pretty hard to listen to and enjoy; Unfortunately!
FM's version of Liar in Newcastle is astounding! As is "my love this cannot be". But doesn't he sing that about the same during the first night? Should check it again:-)
I was listening all the versions of Save Me on the Crazy Tour. I can say that the Newcastle (1st night) version is probably the best version of the song I've heard. Freddie nails the entire song. The Hammersmith version has some incredible phrasing. I put it as a close second!
I think the last topic about this tour was upped by 'StrangeFrontier' who knew what was in te personal vault of Brian. There could be some interessting recordings over there.I personally like the Hammersmith gig and the Newcastle one. Though I didn't compare the two nights in Newcastle, I can say Freddie's voice is in great shape.

1) Yes
2) Use vibrato and rest more than 7 months, no new tour, and without being in the recording studio
3) Newcastle 4 to december 1979. (While some say that the next was even more outstanding)
4) Yes
5) That queenproductions is so stupid, that has not even deigned to nearly 30 years, to throw something related to that tour, with which pieces to any concert of the tour "magic", "works", "hot space, and even" the game. "
