Here another share ! This time the OXFORD november 20th 1973 show. The special thing about this share is : this source comes from a bootleg acetate from 1975 !! I don;t know which sources were used for Supporting Mott the Hoople. But one comes from 1975. Only a handfull ofbootleg acetates were made. Mostly from japan. Don't expect much of the soundquality of these acetates. Many of them are ruined or lost. Or played some much that it's detorioted too much too listnen to. Keepyourself alive is not cut it's complete song! Hangman is indeed cut! Please help me here is a scan of the front of the acetate : link love the picture so much but have never seen it before. It shows Queen playing in a beautifull theatre, it must be one the most beautifull theatres ever been made. It would love to have a colour or black & white photo or scan of this. The picture must be stunning! Linaege : HEAVY WEIGHT ACETATE "QUEEN - BEFORE THE MOTT" (sleeve says november 1975) and the damn thing is really old! > to stand alone cd recorder Pioneer cdrq 01. The setlist : 01 soundcheck 02 procession - father to son 03 son and daughter 04 ogre battle 05 hangman 06 keep yourself alive 07 liar 08 jailhouse rock 09 bama lama bama loo |

Thanks a lot Shadysenator :-) |

Any chance of getting a scan of the acetate itself rather than the sleeve? Only if it holds an interesting label. just a white or black one is not interesting. The sleeve is actually brilliant! considering the rest of those bootleg vinyl releases. |

The imperfections of vinyl should be present during quieter moments, like at the beginning of Procession. Look up any acetate or LP-sourced song on youtube of any artist, just in case anyone wants to know what vinyl is supposed to sound like. In fact, this has identical sound quality and track lengths to a copy I've had on CDR for years, so this is likely not a new transfer. |

Hi Bob, I made the transfer back in 1997 to save my acetate when. But this one has the complete KYA. All the versions on your website mention KYA is cut ? Why there are no clicks ? Don;t know I used a pioneer EXPANDER (a standalone rest noise reduction machine) between the amplifier and the recordplayer. I made little use of this expensive machine because I wasn't fond of the output. |
rschoorl 22.10.2010 06:53 |
So, can we see a scan of the acetate? |
Ghostwithasmile is BACK! 22.10.2010 09:31 |
Do you want a scan or a photo ? does it matter ? |

Don;t know I used a pioneer EXPANDER (a standalone rest noise reduction machine) between the amplifier and the recordplayer. I made little use of this expensive machine because I wasn't fond of the output. So are the sound problems on Ogre Battle and Hangman a result of your gear, or is that how they sound on the acetate itself? I think people just want a scan of the disc (or even just the label) because it's not every day that an acetate is discussed, never mind even made public. |
pittrek 22.10.2010 12:30 |
Does anybody know if a version exists, which has a complete version of Hangman ? It's really pretty strange that no such version appeared online :-) |
The Real Wizard 22.10.2010 12:31 |
It's probably a cut on the master tape. If this is the only audience source, then that's what it is. |

This is NOT an acetate, it's just a bootleg that was pressed in 1975/76 i remeber seeing it around the record fairs of the time.you only have to look at the pictures to realise that, look at the outfits & the stage..the sleeve if i remeber right was just a photo copied sheet of coloured paper stuck to a card album cover.sorry to burst any bubbles Queen died when Freddie did..R.I.P |

Because 1 it smells like a acatate 2 it looks like a acatate 3 it is featured in the collectors biograhies as an ACETATE 4 the sleeve is nothing like the way you discribed it So have fun , I truley hope dr. Frankensteinn will sent your brains back in a couple of days.... |

And another picture. So it is indeed a acetate. The are about 30-50 acetates mainly from japan. Some even unknown because they were made in a very little quantity and most of them are worn out, or never reached europe. Hence they were made in japan. |

apart from what the story of the prev owner says/d...those Queen and Zep records were pressed in Japan. some of the heavy metal shit and a couple of Dylans came directly from an Uk based pressing plant .LR was a big player in the field. Do ya know free R shop and Virgin?..friends of LR...they all became rich with the sales of the so called import records from the States. Taxfree and guess what other records were on the boats?....thats how Ken from TMOQ did get his records into europe. So way back in the 70's....Virgin and FRshop were the biggest distributors for bootleg records overseas. How ironic!! |
