On the American show "Bones," in the episode "The Rocker in the Rinse Cycle," a guitar-pick made of a wooly mammoth's tooth is found on the victim. When some of the forensic pathologists ("squints") find it out that someone would use something other than a professional made guitar-pick, one of them (I forget who) mentions that Brian May uses an "English penny" as a pick. I don't know why they couldn't just call it a pound, but, still, I loved that moment.
Anyone else remember this? link
because a penny is less than a pound
and in shape a pound is thicker and would be to thick to play guitar with (maby u could, maby u couldnt, i just know that a penny is similar to a guitar pick)
So, I understand that lifetimefanofqueen didn't know Brian played his guitar with a coin.
I did see that episode of 'Bones', eventhough I have only seen that show 2 or 3 times.
Brian plays with a "sixpence", whatever that is.
A friend of mine managed to catch Brian's sixpence at the end of We Are The Champions in San Diego 2006. He's not even a Queen fan! lucky him :).
Oh, I had figured he actually played with a pound & the writers had assumed the audience wouldn't know what a pound was. Doesn't he play with an English pound & not an English penny?

As someone above said, he plays with a sixpence. This is a pre-decimalisation coin from the UK. I think UK went decimal in 1971. I've read that the English MInt (who make our currency in coins and notes) made a special run just for Brian with his head on them instead of the queen - that's her majesty, not the rock band hahahahaha!!!!!!
