Hello everyone ! This is the Slane Castle show, from the Magic Tour, as offered on the brand new Uxbridge release called "Irish Magic Castle". It contains 2 CDs and a DVD. You will also find the artwork and the various logs in the torrent. QUEEN 1986.07.26 Slane, Castle "IRISH MAGIC CASTLE" Directly from the silvers. Lineage (audio) : "IRISH MAGIC CASTLE" silvers CD > WAV (EAC) > Flac level 8 (Traders Little Helper) Lineage (video) : "IRISH MAGIC CASTLE" silvers CD > direct copy on the Hard Drive > torrent (correct me if the lineage should be indicated differently) Comments : This is a show that I'm sure Queen members would have loved to forget. Lots of different things made that one a sort of nightmare : a fight in the audience, a concert given mostly in the daylight, political tensions that made "God Save The Queen" out of the setlist, Brian hit by a bottle of beer and not really enthusiastic to play the encores, and Roger amazed to see people drinking so much beer. Still, it is part of Queen's history, and of course Irish fans really deserved to see Queen live, so ! Lots of pictures, stories, reviews and details can be found on link and link. Thanks for those websites guys ! Tracklisting : CD1 : 01. One Vision 02. Tie Your Mother Down 03. In The Lap Of The Gods... Revisited 04. Seven Seas Of Rhye 05. Freddie Tried To Stop The Fight In The Audience 06. Day O 07. Tear It Up 08. A Kind Of Magic 09. Under Pressure 10. Another One Bites The Dust 11. Who Wants To Live Forever 12. Radio Ga Ga 20. We Will Rock You 21. Friends Will Be Friends Video attributes : a .txt file is included in the torrent, in the main folder, called DVDattributes.txt, for you little experts out there ;o). Here is my first (and most probably last) torrent here, I give it a try, hope this will work perfectly. As my internet connection is not as good as I would like it to be, please accept my apologies if ever the upload speed was too slow for you. Be patient, thanks a lot. I'll give it my best ! Also, I have a limited disk drive space on my computer, I would have to keep my upload speed for further uploads here and there, so I probably won't be able to seed one for long, so let's hope you'll be able to back me up enough for other fellows who would like to download that. Thanks to seed as much and as long as you can, and to come back and add some help. I'll wait for some people to have it complete anyway, and will try to keep seeding as long as I can too. The audio part will also be available on megaupload here : CD1 (+ artwork, freq analysis, info.txt, FFps...) link CD2 : link You'll find the DVD in the torrent, but I won't create megaupload link for the DVD, if someone wants to upload that, please feel free to do so, I would be happy if someone could deal with that. I don't have a connection good enough to upload so many things at a time ;o) Enjoy, hope everything will work fine ! Regards, Olivier, Belgium. Ps : I keep saying "silvers CD" in the lineage I give, but it is in fact "Pro-CDrs" to be completely correct. But how to distinct a Pro-Cdr from a CDr these days ? Anyway, link will allow you to see which bootlegs are silvers and which are Pro-CDrs. This is taken from the Pro-CDrs, not a copy from a copy from a copy from a copy... |

Thanks for this, Olivier, and welcome to the world of torrents! :) Yours is working perfectly fine, if a bit slow, but this will pick up. I downloaded the pro-CDRs from megaupload and integrated them into my torrent download, so anyone who doesn't like megaupload can go directly to the torrent, and hopefully it will help it move a bit faster. I'm looking forward to seeing this! |

Does anyone have the Snow Producciones DVD version? It is *claimed* to be from the master-VHS Luke |
The Real Wizard 07.10.2010 00:35 |
I don't have it. And I highly doubt it's from the master. These guys just started labeling the colour copies as master copies, and many sheep followed.. |
The Real Wizard 07.10.2010 00:38 |
As for this bootleg, it's just as expected - a merge of sources. But they didn't use mine. They may have used it as a template, as they made the exact same edits I did. They used the original non-channel-corrected copy of the first gen copy the main audience source, and did major hiss reduction on the higher gen copy and video source before patching the gaps. Their edits between sources are smooth cross-fades, while mine were more abrupt. |

It s true that of this show exist a professional recording ? |
Marknow 07.10.2010 04:46 |
Thanks for the upload. Interesting. I love the Irish stuff, obviously. @ Luca There was defiantly three pro cameras there that day, maybe a forth from RTE Ireland. How much footage was recorded is a mystery, maybe somebody was doing a dry run for the upcoming Wembley shows. Either way, there is no-way we will ever see any of the pro footage, if it still survives, it would not make any sense to release it with 1986 so well covered. |
Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon 07.10.2010 05:19 |
Thank you very much Olivier!! I'm curious to see this one, I have the Snowprod. version and judging by the video I really don't think it's from the master, and also has a slightly "blocking" effect. |
Wijnand 07.10.2010 07:11 |
Thank you. Can somebody please upload the dvd to mediafire/rapidshare/megaupload? Does somebody know where to buy the Uxbridge releases? |

Hey Olivier, thanks a lot for the nice share ! So I guess your long-awaited package has arrived already :-)

So basically it's similar to your mix, but with cross-fades instead of the "hard cuts" ? guild93 Does anyone have the Snow Producciones DVD version? It is *claimed* to be from the master-VHS LukeYes, I have it. It sucks and it's definitely NOT from the master, and comes from a lossy source (and / or was encoded with low bitrate) Could somebody please share the DVD ? Or at least some screenshots from the DVD just to compare if it's an upgrade ? Thanks |
Marknow 07.10.2010 08:32 |
The video quality looks pretty much the same as the snow version. This looks like a cleaner version, but does not have any extra definition. The old VHS copy I have has better colour, but worse overall picture quality. I'd give an arm and a leg to see the pro-shot footage, even though it's not release standard it would be very interesting. New version on the left, snow version on the right. [URL=link |

Marknow, Thanks, I think you are right! Slane was a huge show, the biggest crowd of the tour except for Knebworth that was added later on.. Apart from this I don t know why sometimes bands they choose to made a DVD for a concert in a little venue instead to record a huge show. Let s think for example to Queen plus PR"RETURN OF THE CHAMPIONS DVD"..It was shot in Sheffield..but why not pick up Hyde Park instead?..U2 did some dvd's from "little"shows instead to choose for example Mega-concert from the same tour. It s for acoustic reason? |
Marknow 07.10.2010 11:06 |
This is the best version of the available independent video. Lemonysnick123 where are you? This video has some pro-shoot clips of the crowd at Slane. Some of the crowd shots in the first 29 seconds are from Slane, and some more brief shots towards the end of the clip. The Band in the tunnel is from Budapest, I think. |

Many people are fooled by the pretty menus, but others aren't. It's a whole lot of style and no substance. Just like any other business - add flashiness when the product itself is lacking. |

Hi, Just one little stupid question here, were the cameras from the Queen camp, or were all the various cameras from TV stations ? or "documentary teams" ? Is it possible that they thought about filming that show (because of the big crowd and all), but decided not to use that because of the various problems during the show ? I think I missed previous discussions about that. Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |
Marknow 07.10.2010 14:59 |
This is purely hypothetical on my part, and from some discussion with other people. It is my belief that Queen had at least one camera there that day possibly in the sound tower located in the crowd. I think it would make sense that Gavin Taylor, the guy who filmed the Friday footage from Wembley, Disk 2, was there, and IF he was there would be more than one camera. RTE Ireland were defiantly there for the duration of the concert, as can been seen from the links Bob posted. They show shots from right next to the stage and crowd shots taken from the roof of the castle. So was it 2 cameras, or one that moved from the stage to the roof. The news footage could have been supplied by the same camera from the Dave Fanning clips, but who knows. Dave Fanning famously hates Queen, so RTE is a dead end anyway. Although any footage would still be in his/RTE's archive as both are well known for keeping everything. And obviously there is the boot video. It would be great to have some official confirmation, I could be WAY off, and I probably am. It's so frustrating that some people could easily answer these questions without compromising Q.P Sharing information never hurt anybody. Greg did mention Slane in one of his posts link But his info was a bit ambiguous by mentioning that his list was a mix of audio and video. |

many tks for this share Olivier :) |
The Real Wizard 07.10.2010 20:56 |
Well done on the research Greg.. err, I mean Mark. The fanbase once again does far better work than official channels. In this case, it was already known that the band did a 24-track recording. In fact, a cable was pulled out by a drunken audience member around the time the fight broke out in the audience, so that part of the show may not even exist on their recording. |

This show is full of really interesting stories. What a nightmare !!! Really interesting, guys ! Now, the equipment make me think that these recordings had been made for something, then, and if it is not for an official release (in any form), then I don't get why it was done with 24-track and probably video cameras. The second question that goes to my mind, is why that show, that was in complete daylight, when the light show was almost completely ineffective ? Whatever the size of the crowd, it was not that representative of Queen's grandeur, compared to other shows. Once again, thanks to the taper, thanka to him, we know/hear/see what happened and it will somehow remain in Queen's history. All these fan recordings are really interesting, and taping is not a bad thing at all ! And we can't get enough of that stuff ! Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |

He never really had a good word to say about them. Largely due to the fact he has been firmly wedged up Bono's backside since the early 80's . Take a look at the interview below from Dave at Slane 1986. It's 4.33 sec of him harassing bootleggers, he doesn't mention Queen once. Not a word about the Magic Tour, Queen's success in Ireland, he does not interview excited fans, instead he is standing over the crowd harping on about rip off sun visors? Have a look at the first few comments on youtube too. This is from Troy, the guy that posted the clip. "Yeah, I remember the night Freddie Mercury died, Fanning was on the radio within an hour talking about Queen and saying? "they've never been one of my favourite bands and (with barely concealed delight) I don't see them continuing at all." I thought it was quite insensitive to put the boot in so soon after the man had died." Just to push the Bono point home. |

Hi Olivier, Just recently got a braodband connection so I'm back in Queenzone. Thanks so very much for sharing this, can't wait to hear it. I was at this show and bought the cassette which forms part of Bob's mix the following morning on my way home in Slane village. It wasn't a great day for Queen, at first I was right down the front in the mud and the roughest crowd ever, fights everywhere. By the time Chris Rea finished things were getting nuts, all sorts of stuff being thrown at the stage by so many drunks. One thing I clearly remember was a guy getting on stage and running at Freddie; Freddie very coolley put his arm around him and walked him down the steps and led him to the security staff who escorted him off-stage. The show lacked atmosphere, Slane is a huge natual bowl and the fact that the show started and finished in day light proably didn't add to that. We Irish can be a difficult audience, watch Axl and Co getting bottled off on You Tube at a recent G 'N R show! Sam sam.coates895@o2.co.uk |
