in a time of pretty boy pop(take that etc),the time has come for a new breed of rockers to emerge.
a time when looks are not every thing, when bands play there own guitars, hit there own drums.
and i feel that this group could fill the shoes of queen.
muse it seems are the upcoming young rockers of todays music industry.
the sound fantastic and put on a live display to match anything about today.
a bunch of young guys who can and should take the mantel of kings of rock..
some say muse are another band with throw away songs.
me says muse fall into the prog rock class, hard and experimental...
and i feel theys guys can take over from fred and the boys...
what you think, are muse the next queen.or the next osmonds???. link
Muse is kind of a yes and no for me. The music is often so very good. They rock like people should rock. But at the same time they somehow manage to make themselves come over as kind of whiny and dystopian and pretentious. I'm not a huge fan of Bellamy's vocal style.
nobody!
Queen are talented and unique, modern music is far from that indeed, and i fear it can only get worse, Queen were great, they were legends they were gods of music, and no one can compare with that, they dedicated themselves to their music, not their fashion like most bands of today focus on, modern bands are more interested in what their hair look like and weather they're wearing the latrest fashion or not, Queen were just amazing, they went throught lots of pressure due to how great they were the press tryed to bring them down to try and get attention, but Queen didnt let it, they stood up against the bully and continued to do what they did best, u just have to listen to a Queen song, then a modern song, they are so un alike, Queen put hard work in to every song they did to make it all unique, and they experimented and these days experimenting with music is seen as what many people call "gay" (nothin wrong with gays obviously, but they think there is and idk why) but Queen always said "well if u dont like our music then tough, fuck you, we dont care what u think" which i agree with 100%
so basicaly Queen are one of a kind and are IMPOSSIBLE to copy, there is only one Queen :)
That would be Muse, really. Without going into indie or underground rock (which I'm not familiar with) but if we talk about the mainstream, it's got to be them.
I agree with the comment on Matt Bellamy's vocals being whinny but they have great songs with 'epic'-like arrangements. They appeal to hard rockers as much as they do to Twilight "ZOMG they played the Eclipse song!" fans but in the end it goes down to the music, I guess, and It's actually very good.
The use of 'virtuoso'-like piano arrangements is also a plus. It shows diversity, so they are hardly a 'one note' band.
They even have -brace yourselves- GUITAR RIFFS in their songs. And they are not sampled from 80's records!!! They play them themselves! :O haha :)
If you want to ease your way to Muse while still getting your Queen fix, just listen to "United States of Eurasia". It sounds like some kind of tribute to Queen style backing vocals, with a twist.

Reminds me of something I saw on a friend's Twitter feed re the LA heat wave:
"It's so hot in Los Feliz today I just saw a hipster too tired to be over The Killers."
Ha ha. But I'm with you on liking their sound. Brandon Flowers' new solo stuff is good too.

United States of Eurasia is a fine example of why I'm not sold on this band. It sounds like theatre music or some kind of grand cinematic piece. Outside of a theatre, it just feels overblown.
Personally i'm pretty miffed that Prince Charles will miss out on being King - he damn well deserves it after everything he's done in his lifetime. Even in death, that bitch Diana has fucked him over.
As for the next Queen, well i expect it will be whomever Prince William decides to marry....
