As some of you will have seen I have been collecting all the shared demos/unreleased tracks into one place (See the link in my signature below).
While this has been reasonably sucessful (11500 downloads so far), I've also been thinking about how we can take this further and perhaps create a 'proper' home on the web.
My idea would be a specific site dedicated to unreleased Queen recordings. Excellent sites like Queenvault.com has most demos listed of course, but that site is about alot more than just demos.
I'd like to see a site with information about all know demos and downloads of those available in the best possible quality. We couldl also include information about uncirculated demos, but only on a well reaseached basis. I'm quite happy to include rummour, but only if we make it plain that's what we are talking about. Another option is to include artwork to allow people to make thier own CD's/compliations.
I am happy to do most of the work here, but I wondered if anyone wanted to join me. Firstly I don't have a great deal of expertise in web design (But I am willing to learn), and it would be wise to have someone check my information.
If this is something you think you would like to see please let me know. I'm willing to do the work, if it is wanted.
I can always be contacted at jam_monkey@hotmail.com
Thanks John, I thought this thread was dead, but maybe there is some life in the idea.
As a starter for 10 perhaps we can prepare a QZ thread on demos, and if it is deemed useful look to transfer to a website.
But what kind of information would people want? I had thought about including details like:
Name of track
Track description
Track length
Status (Shared/In private collections/In the vaults/Rummour/Fake etc)
Best version available (If the track is shared).
I am happy to share information of what is in my collection, and would welcome anyone else doing the same.
This sounds like an excellent idea :)
I don't have too much knowledge about rare tracks and demos, but I'd love to help out in the graphics side of things if the website plan gets underway.
Looking forward to see how this one pans out.
That's great, some artwork would be wonderful. I am currently writing a first draft of a demo guide, hopefully I will have something to post within a couple of days.
I can help catalogueing and tagging the music.
So we can put an end to all these bogus additions like (demo) when it's not a demo at all, for instance.
You really hate all the mislabeling don't you! ;)
Most of the information about demos in the Queen world, is so vague unfortunately. Hopefully this project will mark the start of change!
