I think Roger and Brian could produce a great show, and would love a set list along the lines of the one mentioned. But I don't think they would fill the Arena venues, it would need to be smaller and they would probably view that as a backward step. So it's unlikely unless Taylor Hawkins can convince them. |
maxpower 12.09.2010 17:32 |
Never would happen in my opinion even when Paul Rodgers was sharing vocal duties the set list was not as long as the one proposed but as an idea is very thoughtful well done |

I'd go epic and combine Brighton Rock with the Guitar Solo, ala Live Killers. I always viewed Brighton Rock as a frame for that solo anyway, since it had been floating around their live since Smile in "Blag," possibly longer. Otherwise not a bad set list. Also, "Tenement Funster" live would kick so much ass! "Long Away" would be cool, too. Maybe "Man On Fire". |

Funny you should mention this...I was just thinking about this like 2 days ago and jotted down an idea - just didn't post it. I figured I'd give them more solo tracks and gave them each mini setlist of their own with a joint beginning, middle, and ending and see where it went. I also tried to figure out which songs they possibly WOULD do: Cosmos Rockin (roger) Tie Your Mother Down (brian) Man On Fire (roger) Tenement Funster (roger) Modern Times Rock n Roll (roger) Unblinking Eye (roger) Heaven for Everyone (roger) Love of my Life (brian) Some Day One Day/Long Away (brian) '39 (brian and roger) No One But You (brian and roger) Days of our Lives (brian and roger) Drum Solo/I'm In Love With My Car (roger) Guitar solo/Last Horizon (brian) Resurrection (brian) Let Me Out (brian) Too Much Love Will Kill You (brian) Back to the Light (brian) Save Me (brian) Radio Ga Ga (roger) Sleepin' on the Sidewalk (brian) Under Pressure (roger and brian) Hammer to Fall (roger and brian) Bohemian Rhapsody (freddie vox with roger hard section) encore The Show Must Go On (brian and roger) Still Burnin' (brian and roger) WWRY (brian and roger) Champions (brian and roger) |

I don't think they would do it this way. I believe that they don't htink their voices could handle it. Dont get me wrong. I'd love it. But listen to the Holland show from 2002 or 2003. Would their voices have the stamina? Wht would likely happen is another singer and they sing a few songs like they did with Paul Rodgers |

I truly, desperately want to see Bri and Rog perform the song "Small" with just the two of them, acoustically, as they did with I Was Born To Love You in Japan. The potential would be glorious! |
Voice of Reason 2018 13.09.2010 08:03 |
After the Brixton show in 2005 I wondered if Brian and Roger couldn't handle it themselves. A few weeks later I saw them in Basel. After just a few minutes the sweat was pouring off Brian. So I think it's very hard work being the front man and having three of them do it made it easier! |

Based on the recent partnering of Brian and Kerry Ellis, are we instead looking at a future Queen + KE tour? |
beautifulsoup 13.09.2010 23:49 |
Wacky opinion: They should write a bunch of new songs, stay as acoustic as possible, highlighting their voices; together in duet, and solos. (but mostly duets). |
freddiefan91 14.09.2010 02:25 |
Maybe IF there is a future tour, have guest vocalists like they did with Paul Rodgers, include Kerry Ellis because shes a good singer and maybe some others (not robbie williams) Whilst i could listen to Freddie all day long im not sure i could do that with Brian and Roger, as great as they are they are imho better with the instruments, perhaps let them do a couple songs each like with the Q+PR tour but not the whole concert |

if brian and roger go out as brian and roger - they could make alot of fans extremely happy. without the name Queen on the ticket, they could get away with not playing "just" the hits, but dig out some gems that have rarely or ever been played. and the fact that it says "bri & rog" on the ticket means alternate version with not so top notch vocals could be "justified". once they put "Queen" on the ticket, they have a problem. none of them can sing remotely as good as freddie, none of them can sing anywhere near as good as paul rodgers. and if they decide to put "Queen" on the ticket, they need a superb singer in the front, and they need a frontman. not a guitarist/singer, or a drummer/singer. and even if they do push roger out from behind the drums - is a second drummer the answer? not at all imo. roger's drumming is as important to the Queen sound as Brian's guitar. if they go out as Queen, they need a singer. and yet another singer would make the whole thing start to look like a joke. |

Reasonably.....they had their cnances with PR. 'Driven By You', LYHRYH' by Brian, 'Man On Fire', 'Let's Get Crazy', 'Happiness', 'London Town'....could have been played instead of a couple of the lame Bad Co. tracks. Queen tunes: 'Sleepin On The Sidewalk' (wow, how great that was in Hwood 2002),....hell, so was 'Rock 'n Roll. 'Sail Away Sweet Sister' or 'Leavin Home Ain't Easy' could (would) have been fun. 15 song performance, with TYMD, LOML, IWIA, Radio, TATDOOL, and a mellow TSMGO (along with the standard WWRY/WATC). Of course, 'Brighton Rock/Lost Horizon' and Bo Rhap video/live is included. And then, show some balls: White Queen, All Dead, Invisible Man, Resurrection, It's An Illusion....... but I'm dreaming as well |

Weren't Nuno and Steve Vai there that night?... Oyy..... i was there for the star... but could not get in the show. Sadness. That said. A tour with Bri and Rog... i think everyone thinks that would be a great and impressive one. Even if it only hit a few states...(with an impressive guest list for some sort of televised recording) No no... ACTUAL ROCKERS... Taylor Hawkins (Sheer Heart Attack + more), Dave Grohl (It's Late), Steve Tyler (get down, make love), Maybe Les Claypool doing Good Company (if he's a fan)... and bring back Annie... cause she's one of the few femmes that's "the shit"... something like that..Some kind of Queen HONORS program. it'd put em on the charts in the US again. (just watch some PR guy go ahead and steal this idea, take all the credit for it) Just keep KISS and Lady Ga Ga the FU*K away from it! |

Matt Z asked: Weren't Nuno and Steve Vai there? Yes.......and Brian bowwed to SV during a solo. Fab! It was our second day as newlyweds. Got to meet Brian and Roger inside after the Star ceremony (pix are on Brian's website). Roger did one hell of a lead vocal for 'Rock n Roll'. 'Sleepin On The Sidewalk' wasn't too shabby either. (sorry to rub it in:-)) Great ideas, btw. Send them to the PTB. They are all such great ideas that....................they won't listen. sigh. |

Cool... damn.. i regret that.. especially since Sleeping on the Sidewalk was never really officially played live eh?... (nah who am i kidding... i regret it cause it was a chance to see ARENA rockers that i looked up to soo much inside a schmaltzy little club!!!) One question:... Who or what is PTB? Provisional....transit...bureau? ;) (but seriously, i really don't know) |
