Okay, some time ago Gregsynthbootlegs shared this gem. Simply wonderful.
He claimed it was from 1980, but I think it's 1982. Why? Well let me explain...
First of all, here is the aforementioned song: link
Now, listen closely at around 0:19. What do I hear? Yes, a Simmons drum pad. And as you all probably know, this brand was used by Roger during the Hot Space tour (and probably The Works tour as well, but they didn't play Rock It during that tour).
Another thing: the song is cut at the end. Well, my take on this: because it segues into WWRY (fast version).
Yet another thing: listen closely what Brian does at 1:21. He does exactly the same at the Montreal 1982 show. Plus, I have only heard him doing this during the Hot Space tour.
To sum up: me thinks this excerpt (and thus the rest of the tape) is from Vancouver 1982, which could be possible since no recording of this show has emerged so far.
Well, what do you people think?
Edit: Hmm, the other songs include LMEY, which wasn't played during the HS tour. Oh well, still anxious what your opinions are ;-)
I thought this exact same thing when I first heard it. Also the start of the song - the audience are so loud as though this is more like the start of a concert and not a reaction to a song that was performed further down the set list. And yes the reason the end is cut is because it then segued into We Will Rock You.
Plus, the beginning is missing as well. That missing part could be the Flash theme (tape version, that is): the opening song of the entire Hot Space tour.
Ah, don't feel so bad Greg. It's not the first time someone has created a fake recording, and certainly not the last. They put all the right edits in all the right places and sped up the tape, so it was clearly created by someone whose Queen live knowledge is up to snuff - and it took this long for someone to figure it out. Excellent work, Rick.
Greg, as Bob already pointed out: don't feel bad about this. It's just one of those silly things. Happened to me quite often, in fact!
I just noticed it by accident, really. Glad I could help, haha. Plus, thanks for crediting me on your website, Bob. Really appreciated.
I'm more pissed off at the fact, that I SHARED this "recording" to hundreds of people (youtube, Queen convention, facebook, etc). Now I have to tell them it's FAKE!
Now, I'm going to look like a jackass. Also, my friend has it on youtube (the link posted), now HE'S going to get flack for this!
I'm more guilt-ridden than anything.
Greg don't worry. This isn't your fault at all. Like SirGH said, people have done this all the time. If there's someone who should feel guilty for this it is me. I'm the one who has it on youtube with 1,000 + views. Should I just take it off youtube?

I told you to put it up--plus I sent it to over 1,000 people. I don't know what to do. One thing's for certain, I'm only trusting Bob and Queenconcerts for bootlegs.
Screw "tapers."
No, screw liars. If it weren't for tapers websites like mine wouldn't exist !
And you can't only use websites as your resources for live recordings, because new recordings are always coming out. People like Mr Scully and I can't possibly know that a recording exists before a taper or a bootleg label lets it out.
Yeah, I kinda mis-typed there (with the Screw Tapers comment), but I didn't know what to type!
I already posted some stuff about this on Youtube--lets see what happens.

John Deacon just needs to take up the damn bass again, or a get a nice hobby or something. This was just mean!
