Hi All, Apologies if this has been done before but I thought I’d throw it into the pot. I was having a bit of a ‘Queen fest’ last night, switching between some of my favourite songs on the iPod. Amongst others, I selected ‘Fight From the Inside’ which always blows me away every time I hear it; it’s certainly my favourite RT track, very gutsy, superb vocals with a great guitar/bass riff. In fact, it got me thinking last night that, as John Deacon, I’d have been pretty p*ssed off when Roger presented that brilliant bass riff and sound J Here’s the Wikipedia info on the track; "Fight from the Inside" was written and sung by Roger Taylor. In addition to the drums, Taylor also plays rhythm and bass guitar, the latter borrowed from Deacon himself. The track is built around a jangly guitar riff and is amongst the first in the Queen catalogue to focus predominantly on the drums and bass, as opposed to the lead guitars. Lyrically, the song can be interpreted as an expression of scorn directed at punk rock fans which at the time had lambasted Queen. Guitarist Slash has cited the guitar riff to this song as one of his favourite riffs of all time” Any other Queenzoner’s with a favourite RT Queen track (on which he also sang vocals)? I say ‘favourite’ rather than ‘best’ as that is purely subjective. Cheers, Keith. |

I don't like any qween songs but i love "I'm in love with a car" cos I find it touching that Rogers Taylor likes inserting himself into various parts of the engine. Dirty boy!!!!!! LOL!!! What do you think Qween? Qween: We love Roger cars!!!!! Fronthead!!! |

It's a tough choice, I really like Fight From The Inside, I'm In Love With My Car, Drowse and Tenement Funster. But I think I'll choose I'm In Love With My Car, the other ones will be a close second. |

Mine would be: I'm In Love With My Car, Rock it, Drowse and Tenement Funster. My favorite varies each time and depends on my mood. I listen to Drowse and feel nostalgic about listening to that song when I was 12, which at the time made me nostalgic about not being 10 anymore and having to start to deal with other stuff apart from "being a kid". People in this forum have said that the production or sound in the song is bad or 'fuzzy' but I think it just adds up to the song's mood and I love it to bits. If I'm driving my car I love listening to... ... wait for it... ... Rock it !! hehe :) Also the more obvious IILWMC but I prefer rock it because it's more upbeat. I sure want to go and get some of that prime jime when I listen to it. |

I love every Queen track sung by Roger, but If I had to pick only ... let's say three, these would be: 1. DROWSE 2. Fight From The Inside 3. Tenement Funster |

1) I'm In Love With My Car 2) Fight From The Inside 3) More Of That Jazz Roger's songs always had a great feel and groove about them. Some fans tend to dismiss some of his work but I personally enjoy it all. I'll pass on Fun It though! |

Tenement Funster! No doubt about it! |

Loser In The End Tenement Funster Rock It(Prime Jive) Sheer Heart Attack ++++++++++++++++++++++ "Sheer Heart Attack" is sung by Freddie. Still a good song, though. I like all Roger's lead-vocal songs. Yes, even "Fun It"! My favourites, in no order: Tenement Funster Hijack My Heart A Human Body I'm In Love With My Car |

For me roger has a few good vocal tracks, Best known is I'm in love with my cat.......Car, And it's a good song, though still one of my least favorite songs on the Brilliant A Night At the Opera. I think roger's best and should be his most famous is the the aswome Tenament funster. The song is brilliant, and his vocals prove why he's the second best singer in Queen. (sorry Brian). Love that fucking song........other's i like are modern times rock n roll. Love the tune. Some decent tracks are drowse, fight from the inside. Prime jive. |

On the News Of The World album Sheer Heart Attack is sung by Roger. The live version on Live Killers is sung by Freddie I think that is a great song for driving down the road in. |

A closer listen should reveal that fact. Plus, the album liner notes for the song SHA read, "Bass and rhythm guitars Roger," yet, by contrast, on "Fight from the Inside" they read, "Bass guitar and vocal Roger." |

Freddie sings lead on BOTH tracks. If you really need more than auditory evidence, the News Of The World liner notes credit Roger and Brian on the songs they sing. "Sheer Heart Attack" is NOT one of those songs! And before you argue that the lack of evidence is evidence that he might, the liner notes are very specific as to who does what on each song. |

To be honest, for years I thought Roger sand Sheer Heart Attack. I even posted about it when Brian May mentioned it in his Soapbox. Somebody had asked him about it. I didn't hear the end of it on this Forum! haha Roger sings Sheer Heart Attack in the same way Brian seems to be singing Dear Friends. Freddie is not singing like Freddie in those songs. He appears like he is consciously trying to sound like the songs' authors or maybe he really stuck to their guide vocals. I believe that if we heard a demo for those songs with Roger and Brian on vocals, they would sound exactly the same. |

Fun It Seriously. Especially his vocals on '...only soul you'll ever meet' @ 1m16s and 2m25s. |
pianoshizzle1 14.08.2010 14:56 |
I see that nobody has mentioned 'Fun It' :P I kinda like it, because it has an odd catchiness about the guitar riff, with Taylor's vocals being sort of mysterious. Personally, I like 'Drowse' and 'Tenement Funster'. |
GinjaNinja 14.08.2010 15:10 |
I LOVE the guitar riff in Fun It. The rest of it isn't so good... My favourite is probably Drowse at the moment, though Tenement Funster is also very good. |

Sung a different way, the song does not achieve the desired level of emotion. "Dear Friends" is like a lullaby, it's meant to be soft and moody. He sings parts of "You Take My Breath Away" the same way, for example. |
mike hunt 14.08.2010 16:02 |
Sheer heart attack clearly and obviously is freddie on lead vocals. It's freddie singing roger style, for the song like the above poster said. You clearly hear roger in the backing vocals. |

Tenement Funster, nuff said. |
ludwigs 15.08.2010 03:43 |
Totally agree with Rhyeking! I don't feel that Fred tries to sing in the style of BM or other...He sings to suit the song. Drowse has long been one of the top songs but has recently become my fav Arty song since I started to record a version of it....Great lyrics and such a great feel.......but 'Fun In Space'(song) is also up there too.(I know, not a Queen track!!!) 'No More of That Jazz' 'I'm In Love With My Car'....brilliant and I like the way the lead voc is double-tracked. |
ITSM 15.08.2010 19:38 |
Drowse - the lyrics are great! ...the last couple of months I've been playing Hijack My Heart about 220 times. I didn't like it so much before, but now I really enjoy that song! It's not often that happens with Queen songs anymore... |

Well, I could say that my favorite Queen song with Roger on vocals would be "I'm in love with my car", but to be honest, I Don't like the lyrics. So my second choice would be "Tenement Funster". great song! |
Makka 23.08.2010 09:48 |
Hmmm....Tenement Funster for me. Followed closely by In Love With My Car, Fight From The Inside & Fun It (agree about the riff mentioned above...good fun to play too) |
