Hi there... I mean no disrespect or anything but my brother in law who's from Tunisia looks more like Freddie than your brother does, and when you're taking pictures, didn't you think it could be better to clear your room a bit, or at least close your cupboards? and don't make me start about how TM is nothing at all like Queen... cheers anyway! |

About TMs music its the best band out there, no band comes close besides queen. |

Here...clear as mud. ;) Although the Parsis originally emigrated from Greater Iran over 10 centuries ago, they have lost social or familial ties to the peoples of that region, and do not share language or recent history with them. Over the centuries since the first Zoroastrians arrived in India, the Parsis have integrated themselves into Indian society while simultaneously maintaining or developing their own distinct customs and traditions (and thus ethnic identity). This in turn has given the Parsi community a rather peculiar standing: they are Indians in terms of national affiliation, language and history, but not typically Indian (constituting only 0.006% of the total population) in terms of consanguinity or cultural, behavioural and religious practices. Genealogical DNA tests to determine purity of lineage have brought mixed results. One study supports the Parsi contention (Nanavutty 1970, p. 13) that they have maintained their Persian roots by avoiding intermarriage with local populations. In that 2002 study of the Y-chromosome (patrilineal) DNA of the Parsis of Pakistan, it was determined that Parsis are genetically closer to Iranians than to their neighbours (Qamar et al. 2002, p. 1119). However, a 2004 study in which Parsi mitochondrial DNA (matrilineal) was compared with that of the Iranians and Gujaratis determined that Parsis are genetically closer to Gujaratis than to Iranians. Taking the 2002 study into account, the authors of the 2004 study suggested "a male-mediated migration of the ancestors of the present-day Parsi population, where they admixed with local females [...] leading ultimately to the loss of mtDNA of Iranian origin" (Quintana-Murci 2004, p. 840) (From Wikipedia) |

Freddie wore a Mexican sombrero a few times, and he is depicted wearing one in the MIH booklet. Mexicans (a couple of centuries ago) wore sombreros... they had moustaches too! Freddie must be part Mexican as well. I'll take this to TreasureMoment proportions and say that I LOOK like Freddie because I am Mexican as well, eventhough my skin color doesn't match and I don't have a moustache. :) |

Also you just have to take a look at him to know that he is iranian, he has all the characteristics of an iranian, you cant change your genetics. |
Mercuryking 21.07.2010 04:42 |
Sir GH: Hey im not doing this for some kind of fake "fame" im doing it cause its fun , can win some money and takes me and my girlfriend to Paris for some vacation.Im no wannabe cause i wanna be my own person. As far as my music goes, TRUST ME it will get somewhere cause i know what im capable of and you dont. Embrat: Yea sometimes he is too much , its not how i like to behave but sometimes i can get that way too if someone is just being an ass for no reason. I mean im kind but if you push me then im gonna push you 10 times back. Why he believes Freddie is Iranian is cause of 2 things , that he joked that he was an persian poppinjay and that he originates from persia. So even though he and his family lived in india for a long time , Max still considers him an iranian cause of his looks and all the other stuff. So technically he is not iranian but appearence wise he looks very iranian. But i dont give a damn where he is from , that doesnt matter at all for me. What matters to me is that he never gets forgotten and that he will be remembered for the kind, loving supermusical, super genius singer/songwriter he was! |
GratefulFan 22.07.2010 00:31 |
I can kinda sorta be down with thinking of Freddie as Persian. I've always thought he looked more Persian than Indian. You get a lot of that kind of cultural identity vs. national identity in countries that were founded and grown through immigration, like the one I live in. I'm Canadian, but when Canadians ask each other what nationality they are it is understood to mean what are your European/Asian/African etc. cultural and familial roots. People strongly identify with that history and there is a great deal of pride in the associated countries even if nobody has set foot there for generations. It's definitely a big part of how we define ourselves. |
Treasure Moment 22.07.2010 03:38 |
GratefulFan Exactly! as i said before its like a japanease guy being born in germany, he is still japanease because of the way he looks and genetics, same with freddie, he was an iranian because the people with similar genetics to him are gathered in a place called iran. |

Treasure Moment wrote: GratefulFan Exactly! as i said before its like a japanease guy being born in germany, he is still japanease because of the way he looks and genetics, same with freddie, he was an iranian because the people with similar genetics to him are gathered in a place called iran. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We all have genes from our distant ancestors, many of whom were nomadic. However, that doesn't make us the same as them. If Fred's family were in India for a 1000 years, they will have exchanged genes with many different 'races'. It's highly likely therefore his genetics were identical to modern-day people from India. In those circumstances, claiming he is Persian or Iranian is like me claiming I am a "Saxon" or a "pict" or a "Celt" because I may share some genes with my distant ancestors. Incidentally, GratefulFan is making a completely different point to you: you are babbling on about genes, she is talking about cultural identity -- two different things. |

Damn, if he doesn't!!! I thought it was Freddie's long lost brother. Don't listen to all these haters. I've gone ahead and entered you in the U.S. competition next Thursday, I can get you there if you need. Just fly to Dallas... we'll take I-20 West for a little bit, and when we hit Alabama, we just head south. I'll probably just drop you off. First Prize is a million dollars and a recording contract with Elektra and EMI. Second prize is Merle... I don't think you have anything to worry about, it's a lock. |
Micrówave 23.07.2010 03:08 |
Oops... one more question... What kind of shitty-ass microphone is that? Did someone actually take the time and coil the cord around the mic stand? You should probably hide the green 1/4" plug, then people will think it might have an XLR connection. I'd also paint the grill silver, giving the illusion that it could possibly be an old SM58, you could write "Sure" with a Sharpee on the side. That's why you shouldn't listen to anyone here. If you can sing through that Microphone and get something close to vaguely sounding sorta like Freddie, you are indeed the Man!!! I'm sure if we plugged that microphone into the "input" connection on OUR Casio 3000, we'd sound like ass. Go Amir Mercury, Go!!!
