I saw this on the google machine. Can we please not turn this into a "Queen isn't Queen without Freddie" thing? There isn't much for news these days. Anyway, JSS would be a good choice. Give his convention show a listen. The guy has been around forever without getting a big break.
On a technical level, JSS's phrasing would suit Queen much better than PR. Also at this point it would nice for them to go out with a bang instead of a whimper
Didn't Jeff sing with Brian and Roger in October 2002 in LA, in a private party to celebrate their star in the Walk of Fame? Does a recording exist? Has it ever surfaced?

Jeff Scott Soto To Sing For Queen....
Jeez... I hope not. If they do chose him, it would be like dredging the bottom of the barrel for a singer. In fact, he's like two steps below Paul Rodgers, talentwise. His voice just isn't cut out to carry Queen songs.

Having seen Jeff perform Queen songs MANY times live (and I mean live, not on DVD!),I'm going to say quite catagorically that you are wrong. He's be the ideal singer for fronting any future live Queen songs - much better than that Paul Rodgers bloke who was so unbelievebly shite his "wrong" voice ruined most of the songs.
I can understand RT & BM wanting to tour with a "name" (name??? In what f'ing decade?), but man, were they WRONG!
To be a member of Queen, the person must also be able to compose songs. Freddie said there were no free-loaders in the band. There are many candidates who can just sing.
Wow, Inu-liger, never seen that before! Thanks a milliion! Great to see Bri and Rog sharing vocals on WATC! As for JSS, this is not the best sample of his Queen performance, but it's still very good.

Also, as far as I can remember, didn't Jeff Scott Soto also sing with Journey for a while, and then end up getting ousted from the band after a few months?
Inu-liger, JSS did sing with Journey for a short while between 2006- 2007, until Neal Schon replaced him with Arnel Pineda. Apparently, they didn't think he was good enough for Journey.
Brian actually posted about on his soapbox... link
IMHO, I still don't think he'd be "right" for Queen....
True.
Steve Perry stopped wanting to hit the notes.
Steve Augeri couldn't hit the notes after two years of promoting two albums.
Jeff Scott Soto couldn't hit the notes, but the drummer could.
Now Arnel can't hit the notes and is back making YouTube videos.
Maybe Soto could sing for the Journey Facebook group. What the hell is that, anyway? Does someone need to tell him:
"Jeff, just stop dude. My uncle needs a 2nd mechanic at his shop, you should call him."
he is a decent honorable man
and maybe thats why he hasnt hit it big he has too mch class to lower himself to tackiness
he could have unloaded the truth about what happened with Journey... no he took the high road
with Queen when ever he does sing Queen stuff it is with respect and reverence... ask anyone who actually has seen him do it....
and unlike clones he never pretends to be anyone else but himself...
The TRUTH about Journey? Now what's that all about?
"I have left Journey because they keep tracking vocals. When I sing Mother Father, I prefer to sing it in a different key than the band is playing and THEY all sound wrong."
(OR)
"I have left Journey because they keep looking at me funny. I like to write my own lyrics on the fly, and this 'Just a city boy born and raised in South Detroit' line is just silly. It sounds much better when I talk about the Smalltown Girl... twice."
(OR)
"I have left Journey because Neal Schon is an asshole. He and that keyboard player want to write all the songs. This group wrote much better songs when the old lead singer was included in the writing process. I am a lead singer and could help Neal and Jon write much better material, much better than that Open Arms flop. Who's gonna listen to that crap? I have over 100 songs on my facebook page that are just waiting to be smash hits."
Didn't He sing for invy malmsteen's marching out?....That was an awsome album with great vocals.....I remember at the time the media was calling him the next Bruc Dickinson/Rob Halford type of singer. After that he faded out.
