The video of Good Company. I believe there are multiple shots of this particular song. I remember there is one near the end (when the brass section comes in).
Sebastian wrote: I've always wondered that myself. I have seen bits from '39 (with Rog on the small drum kit) in B/W, but no DB.
I haven't seen it for a few months but I thing that all of the parts were Dreamers Ball, or ?
Maybe people assumed it was DB because of the Gretsch drum-kit. But during Jazz/Live Killers, Roger used the Gretsch for DB and '39. The difference was that, on the latter, he played tambourine for most of the song and only threw it away for the last chorus (finishing the song on drums) while on Dreamer's Ball he didn't play tambourine. Another difference is John's bass: on '39 it was fretless, on DB it was not.
Sorry Seb, you are slightly wrong.
Check this video : link
2:42 - 39, from Hammersmith Odeon 79
2:44 - Bring Back That Leroy Brown from Earls Court
2:47 - Keep Yourself Alive (or was it Liar ? ) from Houston
2:52 - DREAMERS BALL from Budokan
2:54 - DREAMERS BALL from Budokan (?)
2:59 - Bring Back That Leroy Brown from Hammersmith Odeon 75
3:03 - Death On Two Legs from Houston
3:08 - '39 - Hammy 79
3:12 - Dreamers Ball Budokan
To hell with Good Company, I of course meant Dremers Ball :-)
> Sorry Seb, you are slightly wrong.
Where exactly?
> 2:42 - 39, probably from Budokan
No, it's not Budokan: both John and Roger are using Crazy Tour clothing (with the ties), the unused bass-drum logo's Roger's face (at Budokan it was the Jazz cover). As a matter of fact, it comes from Hammersmith '79: link
> 2:44 - Bring Back That Leroy Brown from Earls Court
Yes
> 2:47 - Keep Yourself Alive (or was it Liar ? ) from Houston
> 2:52 - Good Company from Budokan
First of all, they didn't play Good Company live. It's Dreamer's Ball, probably from Budokan indeed.
> 2:54 - Good Company from Budokan (?)
Ditto. As you can see in the left corner, John's using his regular bass on that one. So I wasn't slightly wrong.
> 2:59 - Bring Back That Leroy Brown from Hammersmith Odeon 75
Yes
3:10: '39 from Jazz/LK, see that Rog's playing tambourine AND drums at the same time (the hi-hats are being closed).
3:13: Dreamer's Ball. John's fretted bass is the giveaway.
So there you have it: I've been wrong many many many times in my life, but this is not one of them. Here's the Rog + John combinations:
Small kit + tambourine + fretless: '39 on the Jazz era
Small kit - tambourine + fretted: Dreamer's Ball
Bass-drum + tambourine + fretless: '39 on Races, News or Crazy
Bass-drum + tambourine + fretted: '39 on summer '76 or the Tribute
Goddamit sorry for the errors, editing now
OK first of all the "Good Company" was a stupid copy error, the youtube video belongs to Good Company so I mechanically copied it, I of course KNOW they never played this song live.
And yes, the rest is also right, thanks for the correction in point 1.
When I wrote you're slightly wrong, I was referring to this :
I've always wondered that myself. I have seen bits from '39 (with Rog on
the small drum kit) in B/W, but no DB.
I've been of course also wrong, because I remembered the footage being all from Dreamers Ball, but as I wrote I haven't seen it probably since 2005 :-)
