I've been bothered with this for a couple of years and I did some research to backup my theory. I came to the shocking conclusion that there wasn't 1 Queen singer, but two! That's right! We all know the 70's singer, the guy without the moustache. Then all of a sudden, around 1979/1980 there pops up this new singer who has a moustache. I always thought it was the same guy, but after some doubt I decided to do some research. I looked up all the photographs of the 1970's singer I could find around the period he was replaced. I was looking for a picture where the moustacheless singer was growing a moustache. An intermediate between the 1970's and 1980's "Freddie Mercury". Famous people tend to get their photographs taken very often and this, of course, was also the case with Freddie. We would expect a lot of evidence to back up that the 1970s and 1980s Freddie is the same guy! But there wasn't a single picture where he was half-way a moustache! Show us your missing link! It's proven now that the 1970's and 1980s Freddie is not the same guy! |

Okay...WHAT? Really? This is a Serious Discussion topic? Are you kidding me? I really want to believe you're joking when you ask, but assuming you're not, you don't need to look very far to see the evolution of Freddie's different looks. On all the albums and videos, Queen and Solo, it's pretty definitive. From Queen to Save Me, we see Freddie's once-long hair gradually shorten, then, in the middle of the The Game era, he grows the moustache. It only really takes about 5 to 7 days to grew a decent 'stache (I know, I sported one in university). So during a week in the studio, no one happened to snap a picture of him. It's not really a mystery. He had the moustach from 1980 to about 1986 or '87 and then went to the clean shaven look (Barcelona and The Great Pretender), before sporting the beard up until recording the These Are The Days Of Our Lives video. At best, this is a General Topic, I think. |

The weirdest bit is that in the early "Great Moustache" era, the 'stache was "bushier" and longer, as seen in the Play the Game video, but I guess it's the same Freddie we got until around 1987. This new Freddie had a different, huskier voice and often shouted his way through Queen's live shows. It's not the same sweet tone of the real Freddie. Around 1987, the old Freddie made a come back during the Great Pretender video, replacing Moustache Freddie once again. They didn't even bother to edit the video right! You can see both Freddies in different parts of the video and his sister Kash cameos as a choir girl. Some biographers claim that it was not the old Freddie who came back, but a third "Nasal voiced" Freddie came into play. |

Hehe :)... I was obviously just kidding, Mike. This whole thread is a joke, you know. In 15 years of me browsing the Internet, almost 10 of them posting on Queenzone (only forum I actively post on), it's the first time I'm called "internet loser" :) I will hold no grudge agains you for the name calling only because I know you like Hot Space :D. PS: For what it's worth, I can play piano, have written a few songs in my life and I am an above average karoke singer. Not a patch on any professional artist, though. :P |

I tend to keep mine in the same place. Now, on topic, it is my theory that they switched the Freddies during the recording of Silver Salmon sometime in 1977. There's a skip in the tape and that would have been the most likely time for this to occur. When the first Freddie said, "Yes. I know he doesn't know it," I think he was referring to the replacement Freddie (not John). |

It was all part of an intended move from EMI to Apple Records, which involved knocking off Paul (in this case: Freddie) and recording "I buried Paul" (in this case "it's fun to smoke marijuana") backwards in a hit song. If this does not seem to make any sense, it's because you are all sheep owned by the NWO and used for dodgy breeding programs and fine wool-felt hats. |

If we delve even further into the clues we get some astonishing findings, the jazz album (1978) has a song “Mustapha”, I think we can safely say the this imitators first name is Mustapha, becasue it's the FIRST song on the album. Now if we turn the tape over we are treated to “Don’t stop me now”. A song with the lyrics “call me Mr Fahrenheit”, so, much like the Beatles own Billy Shears, who replaced Paul, Mustapha Fahrenheit replaced Freddie Mercury. The album has no Jazz songs on it, maybe a metaphor for freddie not being in the band much longer. Freddie Mercury was gay, but Mustapha Fahrenheit, it seems, wasn't. If you look closely in the I was born to love you video Mustapha's clearly gallivanting around with some female woman, this has been edited on the 2004 queen version. |

Actually there were maybe 3 singers. The one without the moustache, the one with and the one without the moustache with some serious eating disorder. A short timeline: 1970-1979: No moustache 1 1980-1986: Moustache 1987: No moustache 1988-1989: Due to people starting to ask questions, no moustache-guy grows a moustache and beard - trying to fool people into thinking he's the same guy as from 1980-1986. 1990-1991: No moustache, but with a serious eating disorder. It's possible that this is same singer as before. I think the whole AIDS-thing is a thing made up to hide the evidence. They figured it was better to make something up then let the truth be revealed. But the truth IS out there. |

How is this even a topic? How does the moustache make it a different person. Freddie stills looks like Freddie with the moustache. If you take your finger and cover up his moustache you will see it is 70's Freddie with slightly shorter hair. And yes, I have seen a picture of Freddie growing the mustache. I believe it is somewhere in the Queen Illustrated History Book. It is during the game sessions |

Actually, the real Freddie was killed off in 1980. The second Freddie first appears on home video footage, on a safari in Kenya, already sporting the moustache. |

I wonder if there's any footage of both Freddy's in the same picture.... |

Mustache Fred is a terminator, sent back from the future by music critics to eliminate Kurt Cobain. After achieving this, Terminator Fred's power cells ran out, which was mistaken for AIDS. His remains were burnt to hide the evidence. The whereabouts of the real Fred are unknown, but some say he may be the leader of a resistance movement trying to stay under-the-radar from the government as he and and his mum plot to destroy the computer network Skynet in hopes of preventing Armageddon. |
