I have a question: I have several times looked concert Queen in Houston in 1977 and I hate glitch after each song, Glück is that the image as it seizes, as video pause and audio will still go. and so the whole concert.
Does anybody has this concert without these glitches?
KISS played two shows on their "Love Gun" tour at The Summit in Houston, TX on September 1st and 2nd, 1977.
These two shows were professionally filmed by John Crow TV Productions. These two
concerts have been out on the bootleg circuit since the '80s. There are still frames between
songs. Does anyone know who filmed the Queen shows at The Summit?
I'm not sure. But I do know that many other bands shot pro videos at the Summit as well.. Aerosmith and The Eagles, at least (most likely Zeppelin too). Bands generally didn't shoot footage in the 70s for posterity, so what was it about this venue that brought the cameras out? I know there was some kind of agreement with the venue, but why? What did it entail?
I always thought it was the venue themselves who shot the concerts there.
I gather there are plenty of bands who have had their 1977 Houston concerts filmed, though 1977 seems to be the ONLY year.... Wonder why?
From what I understand the owner of the Summit back then had a lot of shows filmed at his venue. I assume he may have hired a company to film them. As Sir GH has stated, The Eagles, Aerosmith, possibly Led Zeppelin have filmed there as well as Journey in 1981 on the Escape tour. That show was officially released. Largo Maryland was another venue where shows were filmed. KISS on the 79 Dynasty tour for example.
John Crowe TV productions is a Houston based company, so possibly done all of the gigs filmed at The Summit. The Kiss '76 footage is very similar to the Queen '77 footage in the way it is shot. I just wonder if any other Queen shows were filmed there? Did'nt Greggy say that they had recently discovered a 1980 show they knew nothing about?

Correct about Largo, Maryland. KISS filmed two nights on their "Dynasty" tour there. One of the nights
they had problems with the video due to too high audio frequencies.
It was my understanding that the Summitt videos are captures of what was shown on their big screens during the show, ....similar to the videos that are now available of Led Zeppelin's Earl's Court shows.
Usually it was up to the artist to decide if they wanted to archive the performance in those venues - the Capital Centre in Largo had just about everyone playing there in the 70's, so I can only imagine what may exist.
There are definitely pro shot concerts at the Summit from other years - The Who from '75 for example.
The Led Zeppelin '77 is much talked about...but no tangible proof.
