On Tuesday 1st June the Bearpark and Esh Colliery Band from Esh Winning, Durham in the UK performed at the Freddie Mercury statue in Montreux.
The story goes that for their 60th anniversary the band were offered a trip around Switzerland. Apparently once the travel plans were confirmed the band agreed that “if we are going to Switzerland we MUST stop in Montreux and play at Freddies’s statue”.
Once the correct permission was sought, the director and the band then worked on some Queen songs which were performed at the statue earlier in the week!
The band performed ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’
