Hi!
This is old stuff that used to be part of the conversations here but seem to be already forgotten. Can somebody tell me if there's been more info and stories about these old things?
1- A kind collector shared the first half of one of the Queen in Sun City '84 live concerts.
What happened to the rest of the recording that was expected to be posted in this forum?
2- A long time ago, a kind collector posted a short audio sample from the Roger's Reaction acetate (correct me if Im wrong. It was long ago). Where can that sample still be found? Is there any kind of further info about the tracks he had?
3-A long time ago, someone here posted a live 73 Rock n Roll medley sold by Barry Mitchell in a Queen convention.
Barry said it was a very rare early recording of Queen, but he was wrong and everybody realized it was the Rock n Roll medley from the well known BBC live 73 recording. What's the story behind the mistake? Did he refund the money to the buyers? is there any kind of exlanation of what happened?
Thanks for your time

That kind collector went by the QZ username City-in-the-Sun. The last I heard, he was waiting for a decent soundcard and a high end tape deck to arrive so that he could do a real good transfer. But that was months ago and since then, nothing........

I've been in contact with these persons. The last information I got from Anthony (City-in-the-sun) was that he lost his job and doesn't have the money / equipment to do a proper transfer (I hope I remember it correctly). When I offered him that I buy from him his master and send him a digital copy, I don't remember receiving an answer from him :-)
The owner of the Reactions acetate also stopped replying to my private messages :-)
Barry Mitchell's Ewell 71 tape was truly a high generation copy of the medley from Golders Green Hippodrome 73 running too slow, and since Barry is an honest person according to people who know him, the "real" recording probably doesn't exist
About the Ewell/Golders Green Hippodrome thing...
I've always been disturbed about the difference in the mix between the beginning of the show with the buried vocals and the rnr medley which sounds really great. During a very long time, only the beginning of the show was available. The rnr medley appeared in 2004 on the commercial bootleg "Queen Will Be Crowned" (and is still the only source where it is available). Then Barry Mitchell appeared saying it was Ewell 71. How do we know the rnr medley is really the genuine rnr medley from the Golders Green and not Ewell 71, given the difference on the mix between the two sources?

This is actually a good question. Why do we trust more bootleggers (which are known to create "fake dates") than the ex-bassist of the band recorded on the recording ?
Indeed, the vocal is a bit louder in the mix of the r'n'r medley than the rest of the show.
But the rest of the sound is exactly the same as the Golders Green recording.
The song was leaked before it was bootlegged, so it's not just the bootleggers who say it's from GG. I'm 99.999% certain this song is from GG. I think it was a simple case of Barry Mitchell making an honest mistake. Still, did anyone ask Barry when he got a copy of his tape? His memory for things over 35 years ago was otherwise remarkable.

"Hi Richard.
The debate goes on then?
The tape was given to me by John S Stuart, a frequent contributor to Queen forums. He was given it by Ken Testi, who maintained that he recorded it on a reel to reel recorder at the gig and that it was all that remained after a malfunction of the recorder. I was not aware of any recording being made at that final gig however..
Hope this helps shed some light on this conundrum.

Barry Mitchell"
