Reuters: Queen announce archive release spanning their entire career.
British rock band Queen have announced today that their first release
under their new contract with Universal will be a collectors dream - a
Beatles-style anthology taking note from the quality and content of the
previously released Freddie Mercury Box Set.
This release, entitled "The Queen Anthology - Incomplete And Not
All-Encompassing" will feature all the hits you know and love plus many
album tracks much ignored by the music community at large. In terms of
rarities, this set will NOT feature anything that did not exist within
the Queen archive. It is believed that the band's archivist
Greggy-Weggy Brooks had alienated the collecting community so much due
to his incessant taunting, berating and general back-slapping that many rare gems have not been included.
Brooks said "It's not as if anyone really believes this stuff exists. We've relied on the memories of Brian, Roger and John who are, let's face it, entirely reliable in terms of what they KNOW they recorded so things like "Hangman", the BBC, De Lane Lea and many other demos and out-takes simply do not exist because they say they don't. The band's arcive and their own personal collections are the ONLY sources for Queen material we acknowledge."
He went on to say "But after all, it's Bohemain Rhapsody and Radio Ga Ga that everyone loves so dearly that we didn't want to stray too far from what the market demands."
"The Queen Anthology - Incomplete And Not All-Encompassing", a single, 12 track celebration is released worldwide through Universal Records on December 1st 2011.
