If a so called "BBC version" appears on an EMI acetate, it's further proof for my theory, that those "BBC sessions" never took place and in fact they sent outtakes to the BBC instead. See the topic "Really BBC sessions?"
No - that particular session is well documented.. the engineers involved have been interviewed in Record Collector and the whole session was recorded live at the BBC apart from the backing for the slow WWRC. It's no secret that most of the other sessions are the studio versions remixed with new vocals and sometimes guitar etc.
Re the acetate as any kind of proof - the band would have almost definitely left the session with their own 1/4 inch tape copy and they would have therefore been able to produce their own acetates from their own tape copy - and it would have been easier to transfer the tapes to acetate using the in-house cutting machine that to cassette - a consumer grade format that wouldn't have been present in the studio, at least not in a way that would allow a reel to cassette transfer.
Yes I agree with Neg*.. these kind of acetate are also present from other band... the were cut directly from the original tape and used for reference among the band and the Record label. And I didn't adjust the speed at all... this was played with 45 rpm speed.
