Battle of two very Good queen albums...Which one do you prefer? |
PrincessofTaylor 11.05.2010 18:19 |
News of the World - it has two of my favorite songs (It's Late and Sheer Heart Attack) and I think the rest of the album is much more consistent than Innuendo (which is amazing but also contains songs like Delilah). |
AlexRocks 11.05.2010 19:23 |
VERY difficult but I will go with the studio l.p. entitled "Innuendo" because of "All God's People", the title track "Innuendo", "I Can't Live With You", and "Bijou". Of course "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" and "The Show Must Go On" are amazing as well... |
freddiefan91 12.05.2010 02:55 |
Thats a hard choice to make but I think i will say Innuendo |
The_CrY 12.05.2010 03:28 |
I know I'm a bit off with my opinion, but I think the choice is very easy to make. Innuendo wins this match. A track like Innuendo or Don't Try So Hard just walks over trash like the dry studio recording of We Will Rock You or Fight From the Inside. And when we get to more Roger tracks, Ride the Wild Wind defeats Sheer Heart Attack, Brian tracks: Headlong defeats All Dead, All Dead. And on and on it goes... |

It's like compairing an old beetle car to a new beetle car. The new one may be technically more advanced and yet the old one will bring up more memories. You can't compare these albums. Recorded in different times and under different circumstances. "News of the World" shows the band full of energy and ready to "fight", which is expressed in several lyrics. "Innuendo" is the grand finale when they knew that Freddie would lose his fight against AIDS and death is a central topic of the album. "News of the World" was recorded analogue and with "real" instruments, "Innuendo" is recorded digital with keyboards and lots of programming. Soundwise "News of the World" probably wins, not only as it features some of Roger Taylor's best typical and recognisable drum fills. Something that went lost in the 80s. Not to forget that "News of the World" contains those two songs, that became classics and standards in the sports world and will surely outlive everyone of us. "Innuendo" is a great final album with lots of great songs (unlike the albums before). Sadly they were never performed live by the original band. |

I love both albums....but they're slightly below the big four of Queen2 to a day at the races.. I'll compare each song.... We will rock you < Innuendo- Though rock you is the real classic here, still like innuendo. We are the champions > slightly mad- love both songs, but champions it is. Sheer heart attack > Headlong- not that close, SHA any day. All dead All dead > I can't live with you- All dead by a country mile spread your wings Vs don't try so hard- Even, Though i'm tempted to go with Spread your wings fight from the inside < ride the wild wind- Very close, but ride the wild wing edges it out. Get down make love < All gods people- opposite sides of freddie. AGP is one of my favorites though sleeping on the side walk < these are the days of our lives- not so close who needs you > Delilah it's late > the hitman My melancholy blues > bijou- Very close The show must go on > A very close battle for me....6 to 5 in favor of news of the world....1 even. The show must go on could count for 2 considering it's a classic and going against nothing. that would make it a draw, lol. |

I say News of the world ! |
hernan__taylor 12.05.2010 20:47 |
Innuendo ,The Miracle and Made in Heaven are Excelent!! |
AlexRocks 12.05.2010 20:54 |
Whoa, whoa, whoa( Flick of the Wrist, psyche!) I forgot about "Don't Try So Hard" and "All Dead, All Dead". There is no question about "Don't Try So Hard" being one of the best tracks EVER BUT I would have to say that "All Dead, All Dead" beats it! "All Dead, All Dead" is AMAZING!!! |
Sebastian 12.05.2010 22:58 |
Innuendo, though not by far. |
anthony mallan 13.05.2010 02:31 |
dead heat. |
LittleSilhouetto 13.05.2010 08:04 |
I would say Innuendo is better, even though I find it a bit depressing in parts. It's got a more mature approach. |
dragon-fly 13.05.2010 08:40 |
Ooooh, that's a question.... Innuendo. Hardly! |
Winter Land Man 13.05.2010 09:24 |
Innuendo is better, as there's no filler. Delilah isn't filler! News Of The World's filler includes... Who Needs You, Fight From The Inside, and My Melancholy Blues. |

Headlong better than All Dead?....don't think so son!....listen, i might give the slight edge to innunedo for it's some of my favorite songs, and does have a more mature sound, but let's not get crazy here. headlong is no match for All Dead, and news of the world is more consistent as a whole i think. I don't think headlong, I can't live with you, delilah, and the hitman is as good as anything on NOTW, so i just changed my mind....NOTW it is. |
Micrówave 13.05.2010 12:21 |
Wow. I guess this thread shows the average age of the Queenzoner. I'm sure most people who voted for Innuendo were simply not alive in 1977. Possibly, they were all born AFTER pitch correction and Pro Tools. Innuendo is slighly better than Flash Gordon, and that's just because of the first two tracks. The rest of the album is a toss up. Hoop Diddy Diddy? A Gospel-esque song who's lyrics make no sense? Roger's best track uses a drum machine? A guitar solo with added lyrics? Innuendo (the album) is a mess. How is this even debatable? We can sit here and rag on Rolling Stone for their shitty album reviews, but a few people in this thread could work for Rolling Stone's album review section, obviously. |
mike hunt 13.05.2010 13:34 |
lol, i think it's close. that's why I made the thread. i remember when Innuendo was released how excited I was. The true Queen returned. The title track, slightly mad, don't try so hard. so many great tunes....but yea, some people overate Innuendo a bit..especially the youngsters. Who in fact wern't born in 1977. no one could understand queen more than the older fans, an example is the kid who said "bring back that leroy brown was filler" the older fans know those were the songs that made Queen special, the youngsters don't understand that....... Anyway, The reason why i lean towards NOTW is because the music is simply better....Freddie's piano....brian distinct guitar sound in the 70's....and most of all the drums. roger was no better than an average drummer in 1991, while he was a truly great one in 1977. The only thing that Innuendo was better at was the lryics. |
Sebastian 13.05.2010 23:51 |
In my case, the choice had nothing to do with age. I really love 'All Dead All Dead' more than any song on the 'Innuendo' album, but I also hate 'Get Down Make Love' more than 'Delilah', and most of the other tracks on NotW just don't do it for me, as opposed to both 'Races' and 'Jazz'. While I like 'Sheer Heart Attack' (the song) and 'Fight from the Inside', I think 'Days of Our Lives' is way better than both, and while I'm very fond of 'We Are the Champions', I think 'Show Must Go On' is just as good and just as anthemic, and I think they're both masterpieces. |

Absolutely no question for me ... definitely NotW is leagues better than Innuendo. "Days of our Lives" is the only song in Innuendo that I consider remarkable, while I consider WWRY, SHA, ADAD, SYW, WNY and IL to be much better than any other song off Innuendo. And yet ... I would consider NotW to be only an average Queen album, while I consider Innuendo to only be better than Hot Space, The Cosmos Rocks and Flash Gordon. |

Innuendo. But I remember the excitement of hearing WWRY/WATC on the radio as a kid, wanting to hear more when Mom turned off the radio -- she thought it was "we will ROB you" LOL |

Mustapha and Procession have better lyrics ... LOL The adage, "The show must go on", is one of the most well-worn cliches in show-business of all time. "My makeup may be flaking, but my smile still stays on" Ugh, Gag me. Brian was unsure of the line "My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies", but Freddie pandered to Brian and agreed to sing it. I much prefer the lyrics of "Was It All Worth it" as I believe it is better as a closing statement on Queen's career than tSMGo. I also believe that the line "No one stops my party" in Khashoggi's Ship better portrays Freddie's fighting spirit than any line in tSMGo. TAtDoOL, ICLwY, Breakthru, PISCtP, KPtOW, IttWWC, WNY, SYW, YTMBA, Drowse, TT(LUCT) and DO2L all have much better lyrics than tSMGo ... IMHO Laugh away ... Hope you don't giggle yourself to death. |
