Just posting this deal as Asda.com (UK) seem to be selling the Book version of Absolute Greatest with both discs (+ annual of course) for a mere £13! Sorry, but when I saw the book, I wanted it. But not at £30-40. However, £13 is very acceptable when considering the commentary as a nice extra. Adam. |
pittrek 14.04.2010 11:51 |
That price is quite reasonable. Do you know if they ship also outside Europe ? |
Adam Baboolal 14.04.2010 17:30 |
I honestly don't know. Quite reasonable?! lol |
FlorianS 15.04.2010 02:29 |
Any idea how 'limited' the book edition was? |

I purchased this already but wondered how the tracks can be considered to be 'remasters'. Twenty tracks at 80 mins on a single CD - are they really the best quality to date? Also - where the ***k is Innuendo? One of their finest singles ever and the only other number one they had in the UK! |
Localboy80 16.04.2010 04:58 |
Hi there, guys! Great link and thanks to you (original poster) had a bit of a snoop around on the net and bought it here for even cheaper :- link I would never have paid over twenty pounds for this item but for twelve pounds, what a bargain! |
TheGame 16.04.2010 05:55 |
If you are located outside UK, then i would suggest to try link. They send abroad and they have the same deal £13.29 + shipping ( approx £1). I just bought it, think the book is worth the money. |
Holly2003 16.04.2010 06:31 |
I would rather eat my own foot than buy this. In fact, I've already started, just in case... |

Thanks to LocalBoy80 and TheGame for their links. I may order from one of those as I haven't seen a confirmation of despatch for this. Strange because the other dvd I bought (not queen related) was noted as despatched. Hmm... Adam. |

I suspect innuendo was left off in favour of having an extra track on the disc. For anyone who is unsure as to whether they want to buy it or not, you can download photos of the book from the link below. They are NOT scans and the quality isn't good enough to keep "instead of buying the book"..... About 6 pages are missing from the photos - but they are full page photos you've seen 1000 times before.... 62mb in size. link |

Thanks for the heads up! Is it instore as well? I saw it on Amazon the other day for sale from a third party for 15 quid and thought that would be quite a good price for just the book. Is the book worth buying? I'm loathed to buy this release on principle but if the books good enough and for this sort of price... |
Adam Baboolal 16.04.2010 14:09 |
If anyone could care less about buying this, you can (LEGALLY) listen to the entire double cd version for free at we7.com -> link Don't know if this would be available in-store. I get the feeling it wouldn't be, but you can always check. In fact, I may be going into my local superstore sometime to check for some blurays. I'll see what I see...maybe tomorrow. Adam. |
Jam Monkey 17.04.2010 04:03 |
Thanks for the heads up, I just ordered a copy. £40 was a bit excessive but you can't complain about £13! |
David Jones 17.04.2010 09:44 |
Just been to my local Asda which is a big one and they haven't got any in store, so must just be online |

What the fuck is that supposed to mean?! Are you trying to insinuate that because there is 80 minutes worth of audio on a CD, that the audio quality actually SUFFERS?? What a retarded statement! The tracks were freshly remastered (by Bob Ludwig) specifically for this release last year, and YES they very may well be the best quality we have to date (other than the PCM 96/24 stereo remasters of the tracks available on the ANATO and Game DVD-Audio releases!). Lots of people were very pleased with the quality of these remasters, and would actually LIKE to see the whole catalogue remastered by Bob Ludwig! If you still don't understand what remastered means, go here: link |

I compared AG to the 1991 Hollywood remasters in a studio environment, and I can safely say the only track that has any significant improvement is Seven Seas Of Rhye. A lot of the little clicks in the sound have been removed, and the sound is much fuller. It was also sped up a very slight bit. The rest of the tracks sound just about the same. A bit of compression has been added on most of the songs, and some very slight imperfections have been removed here and there. But there is no substantial upgrade. |
deleted user 19.04.2010 04:51 |
I also could not hear any improvement when comparing the same tracks with the previous US and UK remasters. Still , I consider the £14 I paid for this package as money well spent as the tracks don't sound any worse at least. Based on these remasters though, I certainly wouldn't consider re-buying the complete back catalog if they were to be released. Oh and Mr. Cunnilingus, I took your advice and did check out the link you kindly provided and here is a quote from it........... Remaster..................generally implies quality enhancement of sound and/or picture to a previously existing recording (frequently designed to encourage people to buy a new version of something they already own) |

kurgan100 wrote: "Thanks for confirming what I thought Bob, I gathered they had been compressed to fit them all on to a single disc." I'm not talking about compression re: file size. I'm talking about the production technique compression (squeezing the highs and lows in the volume together): link Most modern records employ the use of compression, and in my opinion it's one of the worst things ever to happen to music in the last 20 years, as it can make music sound very overblown (however, in the case of AG, it's a very slight usage, which can be a good enhancement tool). Needless to say, this will probably be an endless debate between fans of music and record producers alike. As for file compression, it's simply a non-issue with CD audio. It is impossible to fit more than 80 minutes of music onto a standard audio CD (this particular disc is 79:20). CD audio is uncompressed, so file size will never be an issue. It's about 10Mb per minute, equivalent to a 16-bit, 44 kHz WAV file. |

Ok, I now understand we can have 80 minutes of crap or pure bliss on a CD. Thank you for enlightening me in such an eloquent manner, rather than in the brash way your fellow countryman attempted to. |

Don't feel bad. I don't think anyone could've seen it dropping as soon as it had. Also, just to say I've had a confirmation of despatch for the book today. I will also pass comment on the sound of the cd as I had a very significant speaker upgrade for my lil' studio. So, I will let you all know track by track. Adam. |

OK, I'm listening to the CD, and the only thing I can say about it is : link The songs are loud and they are not better (to my ears at least) than the mini vinyl remasters |

I adore Queen and literature. This is my favorite college subject, and so I was really happy when I saw this book. I found it thanks to the recommendation of https://studyhippo.com/essays-on/law/ of this educational platform and was delighted. |

Writing an essay often seems to be a dreaded task among students. Whether the essay is for a scholarship, a class, or maybe even a contest, many students often find the task overwhelming. Writing an essay involves taking a position on an issue and defending it using academic support—especially first-year students who do not have strong enough academic background. I suggested to all who not sure of their skills do not take a risk and go to https://legitwritingservices.com/scholarship-essay-writing-services/ get the 5% discount. |
