Which one do you prefer: Crazy Little Thing Called Love or Man On The Prowl And why...? Just curious |
Gregsynth 18.03.2010 13:25 |
I prefer Crazy Little Thing Called Love: Queen "experimented" with rockabilly on that song, and it was a HUGE hit. Although MOTP is good, I have the feeling that Freddie either wanted to "duplicate" that success, or was running out of song ideas, so he started scrapping the barrel. Fred Mandel's piano is great though! |

Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Never really liked Man On The Prowl.... |

Crazy Little Thing. Man on the Prowl is just another of the reasons I rarely listen to "The Works." |

The piano finale is indeed great and totally rocks! |

'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' = 'The Godfather' 'Man on the Prowl' = 'Once upon a Time in America' Master Marathon Runner |

I hate the ending of MOTP the way it cuts off it ruins it |

i think cazy little thing called love is better than man on the prowl and also crazy little called love is one of queen's most famous songs and the video clip is just amazing |

No, I don't see it. I love CLTCL, but MOTP IMO is crap. It's a poor man's version of CLTCL, which I consider to be among Queen's best songs. While I kinda consider CLTCL to be a masterpiece (albeit nowhere as good as The Godfather), I don't think that MOTP can compare to Once upon a Time in America, or any great work of art, at all. I would compare MOTP to The Godfather Part III; it has its moments, but generally speaking is a waste of time. |

I like CLTCL better than MOTP, but I'll say this much, Prowl is a far better song than most of the songs played on top 40 radio these days. |

Man On The Prowl. I think the lyrics are a lot better, and musically it's more complex and interesting. So... that is why I'm attracted to that song. I enjoy Crazy Little Thing Called Love, as well, though the lyrics seem like Freddie could of chosen some better ones. Now let's talk about the video... I think it's Queen's worst music video ever. So damn stupid with the twirling. |

"I love CLTCL, but MOTP IMO is crap. It's a poor man's version of CLTCL"
Oh, just because Crazy Little Thing Called Love came out first, it doesn't mean shit, and doesn't matter. Man On The Prowl is definetely not a poor man's version of Crazy Little Thing Called Love, at all. In fact, I'm sure it cost a lot more to do that song. Learn complexity, because what you are saying is like saying 'Hammer To Fall' is the poor man's version of 'Put Out The Fire'. Can I call you MIKE LOVE? |

"The Game" was very successful for Queen in America but with "Hot Space" they lost a lot of the american audience. So to me "The Works" (even a slightly similar title) sounded a bit like an attempt to be a "The Game"-part two. The "Don't try Suicide" - quote in "Keep passing", "Man on the Prowl" sounding like a follow up to "Crazy little thing", "It's a hard life" following "Play the Game". And finally an attempt to write a follow-up for the live version of "Love of my life". All in all some great songs but after "Jazz" the albums somehow lost a certain flow and sounded more like collections of songs by the individual members. |

Mr. Britt wrote: "I love CLTCL, but MOTP IMO is crap. It's a poor man's version of CLTCL" Oh, just because Crazy Little Thing Called Love came out first, it doesn't mean shit, and doesn't matter." Uh, yes it does matter. It matters a great deal. If CLTCL was a huge success, and not just commercially, then it kinda matters whether MOTP sounds exactly like it. "Man On The Prowl is definetely not a poor man's version of Crazy Little Thing Called Love, at all. In fact, I'm sure it cost a lot more to do that song." You do realise that the expression (poor man's version of...) does not refer to much money it cost to make it?! It refers to whether it is merely a rip-off of the original song. "Learn complexity, because what you are saying is like saying 'Hammer To Fall' is the poor man's version of 'Put Out The Fire'." LOL. Wow, some people sure feel threatened when others voice different opinions. You do realise that not everybody has to agree with you? Anyway, I don't need to 'learn complexity.' MOTP is IMO a rip-off of CLTCL, and I stand by that. As for Hammer To Fall' being the poor man's version of 'Put Out The Fire', I never said that. "Can I call you MIKE LOVE?" No, you can call me Brian Wilson. Can I call you Yoko Ono? (rolls eyes) |

Queen never repeated themselves. Crazy Little Thing and Man on The Prowl are both great songs and are diff styles of rockabilly. They are not the same. Love 'em both. |

maxpower wrote: I hate the ending of MOTP the way it cuts off it ruins it I agree. Why the end of that song is so abrupt? Sometimes the production in Queen albums, specially from the 80's, is very weak. Sometimes I get the impression that they weren't working too hard in those years like in the glorious (musically) era of ANATO and ADATR, and the music they made in those years (I mean Hot Space, The Works, AKOF, The Miracle) could have been much better if they were more inspired. In the other hand, I find Innuendo a very inspired album. Wonderful music. |
