Best Single B Side Or Non Album Track
| philip storey 08.03.2010 08:32 |
Hi there my personal favourite is "Human Body" or "A Dozen Red Roses." Does anybody have any info on those two tracks.Thanks. |
| Vali 08.03.2010 09:06 |
"A Dozen Red Roses" ? curious election ! What do you mean, when asking additional info about those songs ? one is the b-side of Play The Game and the other is the b-side of AKOM. Little else is known, I guess. My fave is I Go Crazy. The ending is wild and Roger's backing vocals are fantastic. It should have been included in The Works. Soul Brother is also good; and Hang On In There, but since it was included in the cd of The Miracle it shouldn't be included in your list of non-album songs, isn't it ? going a little off topic now, many years ago I did what most of us, a compilation tape with b-sides/non album tracks, and that tape started with Chinese Torture followed by Hang On In There. I loved the way both songs connected and from then on I've always believed it could have been an amazing opening for The Miracle album. Can you imagine that? Chinese Torture as an opening instrumental track followed inmediately by Hang On In There and then ... whatever you like: I Want It all, Scandal, Breakthru. What do you think? |

In the following order, See What A Fool I've Been, Human Body, Soul Brother and I go Crazy. The rest are pants. Chinese Torture is one of the worst pieces of noise ever recorded. What was Brian thinking... |

You can include album B Sides otherwise it would be a bit of a short disscussion.Sorry i didn't think it through,Monday morning syndrome!!! I got the feeling that Human Body and Red Roses were almost Roger solo pieces.I wonder why HB was not put on the Game as it is a really good track. |

I Go Crazy See What a Fool I've Been Good luck getting the Freddie version of "Rock It." It's securely locked up in Queen's vault, and to the best of my knowledge, hasn't leaked out yet. |

Stealin... and definitely the demo version - more than 10 minutes vocal improvisation. |
| Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 09.03.2010 16:21 |
B sides: - I Go Crazy; - See What a Fool I've Been. Non-released: - Feelings Feelings; - Feel Like (so different from the finished Under Pressure, it deserves a life of its own); - The Call (I'm kidding, of course). Cheers, Ogre- |

| ParisNair 13.03.2010 15:40 |
Oh yes I liked Immigrant Song , its so funny the way Freddie sings it. I wish they'd included it in the setlist at Budapest or Wembley. We could have got it on video. |

Perhaps this should go into Serious Discussion, but I don't want to start a new thread when this one is going strong. So, presented for consideration and discussion... Maybe I think about these things too much, but my defination of on a non-album track is this: a) Does not appear on ALL original-release formats (Cassette, LP, CD, 8-track, etc) of the album. The Miracle is the only original CD to have bonus tracks. The LP and Cassette did not, therefore I classify the bonus tracks as non-album tracks. b) Does not appear on any album, which the exception of re-issues or re-releases (like the 1991 Hollywood Records re-issues). c) Was recorded and released independent of an original studio album (such as "No One But You"). d) Is titled differently than a track which appears on the original album it's related too. I take this cue from The Complete Works boxed set LP Complete Vision, which includes "Blurred Vision" as an original track, despite being a remix of sorts of "One Vision." However, "Flash" (the single version) does not appear on Complete Vision. Owning the 7", I notice the song is listed as "Flash (aka Flash's Theme)," which for me shows that "Flash" ought to be considered simply a single version of the album track and not a different track, the way "Blurred Vision" is. e) Was released and represents an alternate original recording, despite sharing the name of an existing album track("Keep Yourself Alive [Long Lost Re-take]" and "My Life Has Been Saved [1989]"). So that leaves us with the following: Freddie Era: Keep Yourself Alive (Long Lost Re-take) Mad The Swine See What A Fool I've Been A Human Body Soul Brother Thank God It's Christmas I Go Crazy Rock In Rio Blues Blurred Vision A Dozen Red Roses For My Darling A Kind Of 'A Kind Of Magic' Friends Will Be Friends Will Be Friends Forever Hang On In There Chinese Torture Stealin' Hijack My Heart My Life Has Been Saved (Original Version) Lost Opportunity No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) I think we all agree that "No One But You" represents the bookend of the Freddie era. Post-Freddie Era: Somebody To Love (with George Michael) These Are The Days Of Our Lives (with George Michael & Lisa Stansfield) The Show Must Go On (with Elton John) We Are The Champions (with Robbie Williams) We Will Rock You (with Five) We Will Rock You (with John Farnham) The Invincible Hope (One Year On Mix) Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime (with Zucchero) We Will Rock You (with Britney Spears, Pink & Beyonce) Seagull (Live In Italy) (with Paul Rodgers) Fat Bottomed Girls (Live In Italy) (with Paul Rodgers) Bohemian Rhapsody (Live At Hyde Park) (with Paul Rodgers) Runaway (with Paul Rodgers) Fire And Water (Live In Japan) (with Paul Rodgers) The Show Must Go On (Live In Japan) (With Paul Rodgers) Radio Ga Ga (Live In Ukraine) (with Paul Rodgers) A Kind Of Magic (Live In Ukraine) (with Paul Rodgers) |

I think I Go Crazy is probably the best. Of course compare to some bands, like Blur or REM, Queen have very little non-album material to speak of. |

I Go Crazy; See What A Fool I've Been; Mad the Swine. And there you have it! |
