Hello! How are you? What you may to say about this: During the 20 years of successful concert and studio careers, recorded a lot of good albums and has always gave good concerts, and this is indisputable. Why do everyone thinks that the best was a concert at Wembley Stadium in 1986, and why one of the best albums It is A Night at the Opera? Do you think also? and another thing I would like to know: Do you like album soundtrack "Flash Gordon" the film eponymous ? Why this album soundtrack, became the failed album in history Queen? |

As I said in another topic I don't bother to read all this ranking and rating as it is absurd. What is the purpose of making music? Sure the bands have to sell albums to survive, but the best selling album isn't necessarily the best from an artistic point of view. "Flash Gordon" was no real Queen album, it was a soundtrack. And as a soundtrack to the movie it worked nice, but it was not an album to really listen to. Some things work, some things do not work as intended. It might have been a good EP. But then fans would complain about all the missing songs..... "A Night at the opera" in connection with Bohemian Rhapsody was probably the first Queen album for many people in those days. From there many became fans and went in both directions. Some went forward with the band, some wanted more and one by one also bought the first three albums. Going forward from there you never knew what happened next. You rarely saw Queen on tv, all you had was an album that had to last for a year. And maybe a tour. "News of the world" indicated a change in direction, so did "The Game" and as most bands lifespan was usually no longer than three years, each album could have been the beginning of the end. "Hot Space" was a difficult moment. I think it was Live Aid, that finally made Queen bigger than they really were in their active days. Wembley 86 looked a bit like a full-length "Live Aid", and that's maybe the reason, why many people consider this as a highlight. But I'm quite sure those who really saw their earlier concerts will have different impressions. |

What do you think about Freddie Mercury, not given his talent |
Michael 07.03.2010 11:07 |
I've been following Queen for over 30 years, so I guess my opinion counts for something. Best Queen concert? That's subjective. They were all good, but my personal favorite is the 24 December 1975 concert from Hammersmith Odeon in London. They were really on fire that night. I agree that "A Night at the Opera" was their best album, but, again, that's subjective. "Flash Gordon" was a movie soundtrack album, so I don't think it's fair to compare it to the rest of the Queen oeuvre. |
Goodoldfashionedloverboy 07.03.2010 13:06 |
I do not know how for others, I mean the old and new fans of Queen, I like all albums Queen,I agree, Flash Gordon is not an album, only the soundtrack, the album Night at the Opera I also like it, sometimes I want only hear to him, I do not know why, but other albums I like too. |

ok....as a fan since 1974...here's my spin on this best concert(s)? seen on tv/dvd - hammersmith 75, earls court 77, hammersmith 79, knebworth 86 that i've been to - nec 79 (crazy tour - wish there was a tape of ths), knebworth 86 best album? queen II, followed by Races, followed by Queen I worst album? even though "flash ost" was not a proper queen album...it's still way better (musically) than works or a kind of magic |

What is meant Freddie, when he say the phrase "load of tarts" |

I too am one of the older generation fans and yes, my fave album is ANATO. But thats also because of nostalgia. My older brother got it for his christmas that year and we played it at 4 in the morning. Once it was finished, we played it again just to enjoy the musical magic that engulfed our ears...... Best concert (or concerts) for me was Glasgow 79, Edinburgh 82 and Knebworth 86. |

Each time has it's pros and cons. You grow up with the internet and so much Queen music being available. You have all the wealth of concert recordings - official und unofficial - and other stuff you can chose from. "Growing up" with Queen meant, that there was nothing else besides one regular album each year - and the concerts. Queen never appeared on tv and also there was very little press. But in a way it all made things maybe a bit more precious. And in general music was more important then, as it was the main media for young people. But the internet era with all it's possibilities is also exciting. You can talk /write to people on the other side of the world and within seconds you get a reply... And it's sometimes sad to see, what some people make of it...but that's a different topic...;-) |

It's not a Queen concert exactly, but that video where MJ catches fire doing the Pepsi thing? Got to be one of the greatest. |

This was most likely the setlist of the shows: Procession, Now I'm Here, Ogre Battle, Father To Son, White Queen, Flick Of The Wrist, In The Lap Of The Gods, Killer Queen, The March Of The Black Queen, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, Son And Daughter, Keep Yourself Alive, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Stone Cold Crazy, Liar, In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited, Big Spender, Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll, Jailhouse Rock Even though it's on the video, it's currently unknown if God Save The Queen was played at the show itself. |

Hi. By the way, I'm from Queen Archivist or whatever his name is Anton all, about Queen with his words had heard such , that it casts doubt about his love for the Queen. If you want I list everything that he said to me: 1. The same scenery from tour to tour 2. The same words uttered by members of groups during concerts, 3. Freddie is drug addict. 4. Rarely changing track list 5. Queen great , but not the best group 6. I have all of the concerts of Queen and the more I do not need anything (gives a list of what he has video of the concerts Queen) 7. Queen has been bad management. Success in 80 due to the fact that by the time half the group broke up and music lovers there was nothing to choose. 8. Americans turned away from the Queen from the album for Hot space. They are allegedly used to the long-haired rockers, playing rock, and they released a disco. What do you personally think about all that? |

IT might be better for you to post in russian, people may understand you better. 1. The same scenery from tour to tour ? don't understand 2. The same words uttered by members of groups during concerts This is true, most concerts on the tours the chatter was pretty standard stuff. 3. Freddie is drug addict. (allegedly) True 4. Rarely changing track list True 5. Queen great , but not the best group Opinion, so in the words of treasure moment it's true to him. I think this is true too 6. I have all of the concerts of Queen (gives a list of what he has video of the concerts Queen) No you don't. You know Queen Archivist works for Queen productions right, the video list is what's suppose to be already catalogued the archive? It’s not what HE has but what Queen has available to release. 7. Queen has been bad management. Success in 80 due to the fact that by the time half the group broke up and music lovers there was nothing to choose. I don’t understand this, the never officially broke up? 8. Americans turned away from the Queen from the album for Hot space. They are allegedly used to the long-haired rockers, playing rock, and they released a disco. True: they did release "disco" funk / black album. And in Freddie’s words, “It sold fucking dreadfully.” |
