These tracks are from a new transfer the taper did, supposedly from his master tape. These tracks sound better than the original stereo version, as they were originally circulated in much worse quality than the rest of the show. However, this transfer was done in mono.
AUD > Master Cassette > WAV (mono) > CDR (1) > WAV (Nero Toolbox EQing) > CDR (0) > WAV > FLAC level 8
1) Radio Ga Ga
2) I Want To Break Free
3) Jailhouse Rock
4) We Will Rock You
5) We Are The Champions
6) God Save The Queen link
Enjoy, and keep it lossless!
One stupid question to you technical masters out there. There is probably a simple way to create a "fake stereo" version, by duplicating the mono channel on two channels "left" and "right". But I assume saying that I should deserve stones being thrown at me, I'm pretty sure it can't be that simple to be done in a perfect way and to get some real stereo.
My question is, do you think we could do anything to get it sort of stereo, or will it only decrease quality ?
It can be done simply by duplicating the channels with a very slight delay. It's like the chorus effect that's used for a rhythm guitar track. In the case of a concert recording, it just makes it sound wider. Nothing is hurt in the process !

Thanks a lot for your answer dear Bob, much appreciated. I remember I saw someone talking about that somewhere, but could not figure out if it was doing some harm or not. This is a remasterer's trick I guess ! So it makes the sound wider, and doesn't do any harm. It just improves the listening.
Next logical question : have all the files of this new transfer been released ? Have someone already tried to make it stereo using this "cut/paste/slight delay" process ? Is it sounding any better ?
Regards,
Olivier,
Belgium.
EDIT : just took a closer look at the lineage, it has already been made stereo when using Nero Eq I guess. Tried the delay using Cool Edit Pro but can't save files (evaluation version !). Can be cool !
Also, it looks like lossy. Can someone have a look at the freq analysis here (.Pdf, 3 Mo) : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UFXMFOQR ? Is it due to the masters being of a lesser quality now time has passed ?

Maybe the Nero work did something to it, or maybe it was transferred poorly.. on purpose? The things we'll probably never know.
This taper was often up to tricks when he let out copies of his tapes - worsening the quality, omitting songs, or both... and then later making up stories to attempt to cover it up.
