Can you do one with Brian's whiny vocals removed?
Yes please! And while you're at it, can we get rid of the crappy drums, fiddly bass, wobbly guitar and squeaky piano?
So Basically, you just want the Freddie Section "Hot Child, don't you know you're young" ect!!! in acapella? Don't know if I can do this, or what about if I just did an acapella version without any vocals in at all ;-) ( I don't know if you are aware, but there is a hidden "no vocal acapella version" on the DVD-A version of "the game". here's how to access it. go to the track "Sail Away Sweet Sister" & don't press play. lol!!!!! (only messing!!!)
I did this myself about four years ago. I feel a bit awkward being critical, as you have been so nice about my mixes, but this is not one of your better jobs, if I may say so, Word. It sounds to me like this is rushed and incomplete. Perhaps you needed to take some more time over it? The first half doesn't sound like anything has been done to it, but then, halfway through, the volume and weight drops out of the mix, and we are left with twiddly bits of guitar, which sound too isolated on their own. I like the bit where you bright the bass guitar back in, that was a nice touch, but the overall mix on the second half needs sorting.
I hope you don't mind me posting my mix here - it's not to hijack your thread, but to show a comparison. There's also another one knocking about which, I think, Dan did, which is slightly different to mine. Again, nothing sensational here, just using the 5.1 tracks, and bringing the guitar up a little in the mix.
Thanks, Mr Fickle, yes you are quite correct, I did this mix quite quickly after my other attempts at doing this song was just not working. Originally I was adding bits to it & to be honest it was starting to sound just plain horrible (so if my mix sounded bad to me, I think other people would just cringe at the sound of it) so I took another approach, maybe "less is more" so to speak, so I just toned it down to just Piano vocal at the beginning & verse 2 , brought the guitar back for the Bridge between verse 1 & 2 ( I thought it needed it there) & then just guitar vocal for the end & no bass for the outro.
No I don't mind "what-so-ever" that you post your old mixes within my thread :-) it Let's all the newbies & people who missed them the first time round a chance to hear them. I welcome them, my friend, as I do your constructive comments.
