anyone still watching lost? lots of internet theories about Lost...mainly sci-fi based... i thought back in the beginning that they were all dead and in purgatory. season 6 has done little to convince me otherwise. in fact, some new things are starting to back up my hunches. 1. richard and jacob are the archangels - michael and gabriel 2. smoke monster (currently Locke) is Lucifer Lucifer was originally an angel cast out of heaven for claiming to be better than God. the battle of good vs evil is dotted all over revelation. the bible also says that Evil will walk amongst us in the image of someone we know - hence Satan leaping from one "skin" to another (currently Locke) Locke said "i'm coming home" - meaning back to heaven. the parallel "what if the plane didnt crash" story is a red herring....a "what coulda been" for the oceanic 6...the lost souls.... |

i watch it just like i did with Twin Peaks, with a dogged determination to not let the bloody thing beat me! you noticed that the corresponding numbers related to the "chosen ones" in the cave and the lighthouse are also the numbers of the winning lotto ticket won by Hurley? my theory is that we will not know what the heck is going on until the very last minute of the very last episode and then we will all say "is that it?" and wish that we could have the last 6 years back so we could do something more worthwhile with our lives :-p i am,however more upset with the fact that Dollhouse has been cancelled and i will no longer have my weekly pervy fix of Eliza Dushku on a Tuesday evening :-[ thank god House,Fringe and Lie to Me and 24 are returning to my Sky Tv soon, just need Dexter [series 3] to make an appearance and i can be totally un-social again after 9pm during the week |

I'm lost. Good theory BREnski, that's a new one for me, but I like it. The "flash-forwards" from the new "other" reality, I could have done without though. They only confuse me and I dont see how they end up doing anything to the "real" story. Lindelof and Abrams got me stuck again, I really like this season. Although I think it's time to end this story now before it gets too silly. Remember the third season, a whole episode based on a mysterious talking parrot. Man, what were they smoking? Any other theories out there? |

I'm still watching, and still as LOST as ever. Interesting theory though!! |

Richard, as you probably should've seen by now, is not as important as Jacob, far from it actually, imo. He was working for Jacob, he didn't even know about the candidate stuff if i remember right. Jacob and the other guy (aka smoke monster) are the good resp bad forces meant to keep the island in balance. As shown in the cave "Locke" took Swayer to, there was a balance with a white rock on one side and a black one on the other side. He threw the white one away (Jacob was out of the picture) and said inside joke heh [/img] I doubt it has something to do with religious stuff and i think we won't find out what/who they are supposed to be. I agree the 'if the plane never crashed" part is quite boring but guess it's something like in a paralel universe? Looking forward to the next episodes. |

So if we add Richard's blind and unquestioning following of Jacob to brENsKi's theory, that completes the circle by making Richard a religious follower trying to 'save' the Others. Sounds possible, especially since the whole thing seems loaded with religious connotations. Originally I also thought they were all dead and in purgatory so your (brENsKi ) theory sounds about right to me. I have to admit, though, I'm glad it's coming to an end. Suspending disbelief for the sake of entertainment is one thing, but these writers have taken it too far. |

I have a theory too. The writers have no idea what they're doing. They wrote the first series with no idea if it would go to a second. So they've been writing cliffhanger endings every week in the hope that one of the many threads of the story will take on a life of its own. It hasn't, and they'll have a hell of a job trying to write a satisfactory conclusion. |
JoxerTheDeityPirate 27.02.2010 15:51 |
^perhaps they will all get abducted by ET like what happened in The Colbys or Jack will wake up and join Locke in the shower like in Dallas ;-p |

I don't watch shows that are created on the fly. Obviously this one is. They don't know where they're going with this or how it will end. Also, the writing on the show is horrendous, unless all those people are ad-libbing. This show is a prime example of what's wrong with TV today. Hire second-rate actors, unexperienced writers, and a production staff that would make Arsenio Hall proud. This show wouldn't have made it in the days of Good TV. At least when Battlestar Galactica went with the "Angel" storyline, the rest of the show was so well done that you'd watch anyway. |

i remember an interview with one of the writers on a tv special during season 3, and they said they knew how it would end and that it would run for 6 seasons with not all the questions answered. so it's not an on-the-fly job at all. besides which, you can't make something run for 120 episodes over 6 yrs and not have a plot....not with so many puzzles, clues and interwoven stories and for anyone who watches "flash-forward".did anyone notice the "LOST clue/red herring" in their opening episode? the giant billboard proclaiming "Oceanic Airlines - 100% safety record"... i am not buying any of the countless sci-fi theories of LOST....am happy to be wrong about it, as i hate Sci-fi...all of the sci-fi time travel stuff winds me up...cos you an do anything with sci-fi.....you can make up your own rules.....and mostly for the sake of cheapness. one of the greatest inventions in sci-fi - the star trek teleporting, - was created to save money of the special effects of having to show countless take-offs and landings on strange planets... i like my purgatory idea...and will stick with it til someone comes up with something better.... there are some silly questions i want answered...like why is Jack Shephard's hair long again? when the plane crashed in series 1, he had a crew cut, yet they show him in the "plane never crashed scene" with longer hair! |
Woodie 28.02.2010 06:22 |
The "if the plane never crashed" thing is more like "if the hatch wasn't built"; and many things changed. You saw their lifes are slightly different there than they were shown in the first season. For example Locke and Helen are together, Ethan was a doctor in the same hospital as Jack, Jack had a son and many other things. So his hair being a bit longer is not so weird after all. And someone said that Richard was following Jacob as a religious nut? I highly doubt it. If someone would make me forever young heh like Jacob made Richard, i would surely be working for/ helping him with whatever he needs. Actually, the Richard story is one of the things I'm the most curious about. |

am also trying to find a reason for the hieroglyphs... nearest i can get is a link between Egypt (before Christ) and Purgatory. the "existnece" of the Hebrews in Egypt was likened to a "living purgatory".....also the ancient Egyptians were obsessed with the afterlife....and daubed all of their tombs in hieroglyphs.... the abundance of hierogplyphs throughout LOST seems to signify to me that the "airline passengers" are definitely dead waiting to passover to their afterlife..... other things of significance.....i think the island's mysterious "healing properties"? Locke could walk again, and Rose Nadler (was dying with cancer) and the island cured her....and then there's Jin Kwon's sudden ability to speak English...his wife had lessons in english, yet three weeks on the island and he can sspeak english?......all of these things scream "afterlife" as in the afterlife we are all supposed to be equal.... Locke has been the key to the whole story....strange that someone called Locke is the key. It's important to remember that when the smoke monster (Satan) took "Locke's form" he said "I need to get back home" (to heaven?)....what better way than to inherit the body of someone who can't walk? Jack Shepherd is also well-named....he has been intrinsic to "guiding" and "leading" the "survivors".....to the promised land? the Title? LOST? - lost souls? - purgatory...? |

^lets put it like this,if you watched Ashes to Ashes then it had virtually the same plot ending..but..on an island and with less coppers and more polar bears :-p |

i loved the ending of lost. i know i didn;t get it completely right - but the death and purgatory thing came into it and moving onto heaven. so i like the fact that i was on the right track. the last three episodes were written so well. the "touching to remember" was a great idea with flashbacks and helping each other move on by "understanding" via touch. the church with all denominations of faith catered for was brilliant. the need to move on together was clever. as someone one doesn't believe in god, but really wishes i could for one reason: my dad and brother died in last 18 months and so i would give anythng to see them again - or even believe that i might. because of this the end of Lost really did move me. i'm gonna miss Lost. ps - to Holly - you were so wrong. it all tied up nicely, and they did knw where they were going from day 1. they even decided who would be in the last episodes and why - six years ago. |
FriedChicken 09.06.2010 10:33 |
I still can't believe it's over :( I loved the ending, however the scene with Vincent, Rose & Bernard seemed a bit forced. Of course not as forced as the horrible Nicky & Paolo episode. One day I'll find a loophole and kill Damon & Carlton for that episode! |
