This looks like an excellent and well researched list, thank you. I find the tracks that have been ripped from these games very interesting to listen to (Those I have heard anyway). Not as good as the full 24 tracks of course, but still very iluminating to hear the different instruments separately
Why in all things musical would you include Vanilla Ice's atrocity on that list? Sure it uses the Under Pressure bassline, but Ice took it without permission (lousy good-for-nothing) then claimed he added an extra note. Listen to first 5 seconds of Ice Ice Baby if you can without vomiting. The melodies are indentical! Queen and David Bowie didn't get credit for it. Only when people kicked up a fuss did the originial composers get a credit. Although I must admit, it's a real double-edged sword. Queen and David Bowie are credited for the bass riff, and yet they get their names added as writers, therefore inadvertently co-composing probably the worst song of all time. [Insert classic Mutley growl]
Same thing with MC Hammer. Rick James noticed the opening riff of Super Freak getting rapped over and kicked off. He ended up as co-author. Forget Ice Ice Baby vs. U Can't Touch This. I'd much prefer a mix of Under Pressure and Super Freak. Considering how awesome both songs are, it wouldn't be a bad thing. R.I.P Freddie. (And Rick James too).
