There is one fanat, who says that the Queen is not interestin in terms of live performances (he means that at every concert performed almost the same songs, the scenery one type , at every concert Freddie says ones the same phrases, the most numerous concerts were in Crazy Tour "and" Magic tour "is obliged only" Live aid "). What do you think about his words concerning Queen?
Some tours had a setlist that stuck, while others weren't so rigid. Songs shifted around a lot on the News Of The World, Game, and Hot Space tours.
Maybe this person should go out on tour to try and perfect a show before complaining that repetition is a bad thing, when it is, in fact, what usually keeps a band tight and consistent. Most people don't see a band more than once on a tour, so why should the band have to change things from night to night?
Furthermore, if they don't like Queen as a live band for this reason, then they should stop complaining and simply listen to something else they do like.
I don't know if Queen were the best live band ever, nor do I care. Regardless, they were great live. Some live versions of songs were better than their studio counterparts. not many bands could say that.
I think Queen were a fantastic live act but, as I mentioned elsewhere, I always felt their vocals were lacking, in a major way, in concert. Freddie used his lower register when songs often called for his higher register, and Brian is a weak singer live. In addition, I agree that they did, indeed, often "play it safe" with their live song selection, but I think it was a case of "If it's not broke, don't fix it", meaning that they generally knew which songs worked well in concert.
Now, I know that this next opinion is going to get me in trouble, but I'm going to say it anyway, and please understand that I say this as a major Queen fan. IMHO, I think Brian May is lacking as a concert guitarist - not in the studio, where he is one of the most creative guitarists of all time, but on the stage. He misses an awful lot of notes for am experienced, professional musician. His leads are normally not that great, and he is a much better rhythm guitarist than lead guitarist - again, IMHO.
