Finally someone sums it up nicely, and without an agenda or sour grapes... On a current thread elsewhere, mooghead said.... 'At the end of the day Greg, everyone is jealous of you and people, Brits in particular, dont like people who make them jealous. Thats when the insults and vitriol starts.' GB: Dead Right Moogy. It usually is the Brits that are most jealous. You see it in all walks of life. British people are by far more resentful and jealous of others, than any other nation you run into. You do not find the same situation in Holland or Germany or France. It's a very strange thing. Brian has said similar things too, as has Freddie. It is unquestionable. British people do things like scratch up brand new cars because they basically resent someone doing well, or because they perceive it is they who should be driving the nice car. They will vandalise property because OTHERS have it while they DO NOT. Mooghead: Some of the things you say can be childish but its so obviously a piss take I cannot believe people bite time after time. GB: Indeed. A lot of the people here really seriously cannot see a piss take, or take such things in the same way, back at them, as they give it out. I totally agree.... "I cannot believe people bite time after time." Mooghead: Good on you. Hope you are loving the job as much as I know I (and John Stuart) would.' GB: Thank you. I am. VERY much. You probably saw on another thread John Stuart insisting that my job is negative and redundant and must be like slavishly doing the same old tired things over and over without satisfaction. He suggested it only entails logging tapes. Well.... I responded in detail, pointing out that he was ONE MILLION PER CENT WRONG AGAIN, and outlining LOTS of stuff he knows nothing about. I did so in a clear and frank way, and proved to him how wrong he was to suggest those things without any evidence whatsoever. But did he apologise or retract one word?????? NO. He has not the grace or eloquence. He simply isn't big enough to admit when he is wrong. Nothing we can do about that. It is HIS failing. This too, Mooghead, only shows his deep rooted jealousy and resentment. This is a British trait too, I'm afraid. Such people just cannot bring themselves to retract something that's been proven totally wrong, for fear of losing face, and all that does is show them up for the shallow graceless people they are. I meet this from time to time, usually with people like John, who INSIST they are not remotely resentful when all the evidence and most of what they say clearly points to that. In fact, the opposite is true. If John had read my detailed response and come back with, "Fair enough Greg. I can't argue with the facts you state. I retract it", people would have more respect for him. SOME people, not all. As it is.... HE TOTALLY FAILS TO ADDRESS ONE SINGLE THING I SAID THAT PROVES HIM WRONG. TAKE A LOOK AT THAT THREAD. SEE WHAT I WROTE TO DISPROVE HIS LUDICROUS CLAIMS, AND THEN WATCH HIM FAIL TO ANSWER ONE POINT. I PROVED CONCLUSIVELY THAT THE JOB IS FAR FROM DULL OR NEGATIVE OR REDUNDANT, AND HE COULD OFFER NOTHING AT ALL. HE JUST CHANGED THE SUBJECT LIKE THE UNGRACIOUS GRUMPY RESENTFUL PLEB HE IS. Living in Britain you do run into people who just cannot admit when they are wrong. Mostly it's because they are small minded and don't possess sufficient spirit. Other times it's because they are, at the heart of the matter, jealous or resentful (call it what you will) of the job you do - exactly as you say mooghead. You said it, others have said it. Others have told JSS that everyone knows he'd love to be privy to the rare Queen audio I hear, but only he cannot bring himself to admit it. This is all you need to know about the man. I'd love it if just told it as it is. He thinks he will lose face if he does that. It's a pitiful spineless point of you - as we've come to expect. I notice Holly2003 didn't like what you said moog, because it doesn't fit with her little picture of me and the siuation, and God forbid she should ever RE-THINK something she's made her mind up on, and which is set in concrete forever in her mind. Massive surprise, I don't think. Holly and others like her, who can't bear a bad word against JSS, are so very predictable. But actually it's normal to disagree with people, even your heroes like Sebelius Stuart, and still retain integrity. Holly said... 'You don't know what you're talking about, but that's your problem, not mine.' She doesn't agree with you moog, but I certainly do. The proof exists in every other sentence and comment such people post.... that are so unbalanced and one-sided and biassed, it's a joke. Holly concludes you don't know what you're talking about because you don't share her take on it. Perhaps it is YOU Holly who doesn't know what you're talking about. Think about that. Consider it. Give it serious thought instead of being a petulant smart-arse so much of the time. Bend a little. See the other side. Holly, read what I wrote about my job, and you tell me who was clearly in the wrong and right. But please be big enough to tell it how you truly see it. Is that too much to ask? |

Oooooh! you can probably come up with something a bit more grown up than that, can't you???? I won't hold my breath. Maybe when you're no longer a teenager. Have a nice day Holly, and calm down. You're coming across all angry angst-filled and immature. |

I've changed my mind. I think you're great! Excelsior! |

Well, I will have to stand up for Brits here Greg, as you know I’m not afraid to defend people (even you Greg) and see things from both side of the fence. I’m British and I have to say that I and probably loads of other Brits aren’t jealous, I wouldn’t want you job, nor would I comment on it, after all I don’t know anything about archiving or being an archivist. But you’ve lumped us all together, neither YOU nor mooghead know where everyone on this board is from, to assume it's mostly Brits that post the replys is stupid. |
Queen Archivist 21.02.2010 18:04 |
To Emrabt... I did not say ALL Brits. I am not suggesting ALL Brits. Obviously a lot of brits, a lot of people I know are far from jealous individuals. I am saying that there are more jealous Brits - the kind of people who will scratch your brand new car with a malicious key, out of jealousy or resentment (because they feel THEY should have that car).... than I encounter anywhere else. I think this is indisputable. There are many lazy and resentful people in Britain in 2010, who would damage your car or property as easily as look at you. It is very sad, but true. It's all over the news every single day. Kids at school who are doing extremely well, excelling at various subjects, get bullied or stabbed to death by other kids. Resentful kids who resent that the other kid is achieving, while THEY cannot, are not. This is NOT exclusive to the UK, very obviously. But it is rife here. |

ENRABT...... But you’ve lumped us all together, neither YOU nor mooghead know where everyone on this board is from, to assume it's mostly Brits that post the replys is stupid. GB: I did not reach this conclusion from JUST the Queenzone forum. Of course I didn't. I am 43 years old. I base it on what I find in life generally. It just so happens that the whole concept of jealousy and resenting what the other guy has, is represented here too, as well as in outside life, by certain individuals and their clear and apparent resentment of me. SOME of this resentment, not all of it, simply HAS to come from the privileged job I do and people's jealousy. You can surely see that. I have not lumped EVERYONE TOGETHER at all. Re-read exactly what I said. It is only the minority, thankfully, not the majority. But if you don't think that the Brits lead the way in this sad aspect, or at the very least are UP THERE AT THE FRONT, you are kidding yourself. In my opinion. |

GREG, READ THIS: STOP TEASING PEOPLE WITH STUFF LIKE "OH I FOUND SOMETHING I CAN'T TALK ABOUT" and stuff like that. stop provoking, be a normal human being and SHUT UP if you can't talk about it. and don't take this as offense. i'm just saying how things are.. and one question for you (FOR INSTANCE, YOU COULD ANSWER THIS QUESTION...): Will there be released any Freddie Mercury tracks [not Queen tracks] after the Boxset? |

I can't speak on traits of Brits vs. any other nationality - i am an American, and though i consider myself well-educated as well as well-experienced, i know that my judgement of others is often incomplete at best and dead wrong at worst. as a Queen fan, i'm certainly jealous of your position, Greg... but i also recognize that your control over or input on decisions pertaining to the archives' material is very limited, and therefore perhaps a frustration to you as well. I don't desire the job - but at times, i wish i'd had the chance to see & hear for myself what exists therein. I'm fairly certain the master tapes of Montreal 81 didn't fly off the tape machine sounding as they do on the latest release. Much of the material would need careful editing, mixing, and mastering to make them shine. You probably need a bit of imagination to hear them in the raw and wonder what they might become in the right hands with the sonic technology of 2010. Maybe Brian and Roger need a little of that imagination themselves... and yet i know the disparity between devoted QZ fans (myself included) who want a box set that might even put to shame the Neil Young Archives... and the masses that only know a couple of Queen's transcendent hits. It's not 1972, and unfortunately, it IS a business and it IS about making money. And there are a lot of hands in the Queen pie. I just wish it weren't so complicated. There is great art locked away from so many who just want to admire it. it saddens me more than anything else... |

Am I the only one who thinks this thread belongs to the "Personal" section, not to "Queen - Serious Discussion"? No offence to Greg, John, Mooghead, or anyone, but when I come to this forum, I want to hear interesting things about the band, NOT about the interpersonal conflicts of fellow Qzoners. I mean, wasn't the "To John Stuart" thread already enough? Do we really need yet another new thread about this? At least, send these to the right section, please. |
