Hi Queen Fans, I was just wondering about what people here tend to think about Adam Lambert. I was initially very impressed with his voice on American Idol. I also thought that his version of “Ring of Fire” was original in a way that is quite rare for American Idol contestants, who tend to do everything in the same clichéd kind of way. One of the things that I did not like was when Adam started talking a lot about Madonna and about how he was going to be produced by the same producer who works with Lady Gaga. I was kind of worried there, since I was hoping that he was going to go for rock music rather than pop. Compared to most of the crap that is on MTV nowadays, I did not think that his debut album was bad. At the same time, I was hoping for something a little more. Actually, I was hoping for a lot more. Where were those flashes of genius that we saw so often in Freddie’s singing? To me, they just weren’t there. Not that I don’t like Adam. I think that he is very sexy and that he is a lot more talented than 95% of the “artists” I hear on the radio. Maybe I was expecting too much of him. Furthermore, maybe he will get better with time in the way that Freddie did throughout the 1970s. We’ll see. |

Is he related to Christopher Lambert..? Sorry, couldn't resist. But no, seriously. He was actually my pick out of the American Idol bunch. I liked his voice, and his style, and he was just generally a lot of fun to watch. I liked him straight up, from his audition, onwards, and was rather dissapointed when he didn't win. I'll be keeping an eye on his stuff, and seeing what direction he actually goes in, however, before I make my mind up on the subject, period. |

Adam Bolton? |

I'd only accept him on board if the project included also Jedward. Q+Christopher Bolton+Jedward .... ahhhhhh !!... can't wait ! |

Someone needs to smack him in the face with a shovel. Hopefully when he awakens, he'll have a fire under his arse and the will to use his instrument in music that's worth listening to. Because at the moment his voice is totally wasted. He is capable of so much more. And it's depressing. |

Not a lot. I really cannot be botherd with any guest acts performing with Queen. I would be more than happy to just have Brian and Rodger just work together with no other guest acts. |

I followed him closely until he released his debut album, which greatly disappointed me. He has a terrific voice, but he is doing the same kind of mediocre stuff that someone could do with a mediocre voice, for the most part. I had great hopes up to that point that he might make an appearance with Brian and Roger and do something that at least was reminiscent of the sort of great songs he did on AI and professed to love performing, but now feel as though I have been victimized by the old bait-and-switch game. Still paying some attention in case he pulls his head out, but disenchanted.................... On the other hand, after listening to Adam's debut album, it feels so good to hear Queen again! ;o) |

Personally I wouldn't want him in a a frontman. I don't think Bri and Rog will tour as Queen + again at this satge of their careers if they do then I would like Justin Hawkins to step in, talented frontman who's gone nowhere since the Darkness split and Hot Leg are ok but he should collaborate with the lads. |

The only person who could front Queen credibly at this point is Myles Kennedy. He's the best English-language singer alive. link ^^ Listen to this. Creed Mk. II(Alter Bridge) suck ass but some of their songs shine because of Myles Kennedy. He's a much better singer than Adam Lambert. |

The dude from Highlander? He's pretty badass. Don't know why Queen fans would have strong feelings about him, though. |

He is good but I fail to see that he has a better voice than Adam's, though it does go to prove that everyone DOES indeed think that his/her own fleas are gazelle's. It would be a pretty tall order for either one of them to follow in Freddie's footsteps. |

Only in a Queen Musical - movie, I can see him. Good voice, not for Qyeen + Queen + must stop. It was shit idea and Q+Adam is even more. |

Adam is right for Queen like the moon is made of green cheese i.e. it's a notion that is a wholly made up and imaginary construction. Lambert is a middling, inconsistent talent who after clawing his way up to understudy after 15 years or whatever had the wisdom to audition (with a souless, middling rendition of Bo Rhap) for American Idol. There are pots of people as good or better than him, and admittedly pots more who are worse. Regardless, he is the one who has created opportunities for himself and he is as worthy of it as anybody else in the position. Since he does have a look and voice that shines on the right stage with the right material it would be nice if he'd get to knowng who he actually is as a potential artist (right now he's pretty much just a performer) and quit interspersing his more appealing and interesting sounds with horrible singing and dancing around like a complete tool. On another note, his hard core fans are completely nuts. Wow. They band together and buy multiple copies of his singles and his album (multiple copies of his ALBUM!) in weird attempts to manipulate the charts. They kind of all sound like this. Bizarre. |
Bo Rhap 29.01.2010 16:02 |
I dont want a Freddie impersonator in the band. If there's gonna be another singer join Brian + Roger then he/she should do the same as Paul Rodgers and sing the songs in their own inimitable style. |

Eeeeuuuuuuwwwwwwwwww.............. The AMA thing was like he just sort of went out of control. I see both sides of it and am really ambivalent about it in a reasonable sense, but I feel like he crapped in his nest. The worst part is that he sang so poorly on top of the outrageous performance. But I think that the biggest problem with the networks and such is that he rehearsed the thing one way and performed it another. I thought the song sucked anyway, just for starters. And what is with this upswept hairdo that I keep seeing? Looks like a fright wig. Ugh! I still see a lot of potential but I have no idea where the young lad is headed now, though I've heard that he is bound for Canada and the UK.................. |

It would be a pretty tall order for either one of them to follow in Freddie's footsteps. Another guy who's as good or better than Adam is Mike Patton. That guy has a better range than even Freddie and Ian Gillan(not that it matters). But yeah, I have to admit that Adam Lambert is undoubtedly one of the top 2-3 singers of today and I listen to A LOT of music of a variety of genres having great vocals. There are singers other than the aforementioned two who surpass Adam in one or two vocal criteria but Adam is on the whole more well-rounded than the likes of Jim Gillette, Jimmy Gnecco, Daniel Gildenlow, Chris Cornell etc. I just meant to say that Myles Kennedy would suit Queen better since he's a CREDIBLE rock singer who has covered Queen in the past and probably won't pull any unexpected stunts that could seriously debilitate their collective social standing unlike a certain someone. |

One of the things that I wonder about with Adam is that he appeared to promote one kind of music on AI, which is why I and a number of others supported him, but then his debut album has gone in another direction. Then he rehearsed the AMA performance one way and performed it another way. He also has said that he didn't want to be the poster child for the gay community, but then has done things to put himself right in the thick of it. Seems like a pattern. |
Matias Merçeauroix 31.01.2010 03:30 |
Adam is ADAMAZING. Incredible singer. And RIGHT NOW, Brian and/or Roger DON'T DESERVE to perform with him. He's way too talented to waste his incredible voice in weak bullshit songs like the very ones Brian and Roger wrote on The Cosmos Sucks (on which they also played like shit). But if they were to try and make a serious album (and play it the way we know they can), he should be the first choice. |
john bodega 31.01.2010 03:44 |
I agree. But at the moment it's a two way street. I would not want to hear Brian and Roger playing with the Adam who performed on Oprah. I'd be happy to hear them collaborate if they all pull the stops out. Otherwise I'll pass. |
