Hello all queenzoners!David Bret in his book LIVING ON THE EDGE-THE FREDDIE MERCURY STORY,talks about the Freddie solo unreleased songs (six songs with Montserrat Caballe and the two songs with Michael Jackson),but also talks about two tape-recordings (WATC and the first couplets of BO RHAP sung in japanese and dating from 1985).Is there much information of these two Queen unreleased songs?Thank you!!
LIVING ON THE EDGE (PAGE 198):"...Of Freddie's unreleased work with Montserrat, there are six songs wich can only be made commercially available with her consent, not Queen's.(..)Michael Jackson similarly owns the copyright to the tapes he completed with Freddie-Victory and State of shock-but has stated that they will not be released.THE TAPE-RECORDING OF WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS AND THE FIRST COPLETS OF BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY SUNG IN JAPANESE AND DATING FROM 1985,MAY SUFFER A SIMILAR FATE."
I will agree much info.
I read this book a long time ago, and was especially excited hearing about the 6 songs with cabelle, since I'm such a huge fan of their work together.....The book say's it's unlikely these songs will see the light of day, and that's been proven true so far....maybe the michael jackson duets will be released as a remix...., cabelle said that the songs they recorded wern't even close to being done, and some of them didn't even have titles. They would have been on the freddie boxset if they were ever gonna be released.
You're right Mike, all you comment appeared in the book:"(..)One is a rehearsal of them singing MUSIC OF THE NIGHT from Phamntom of the opera.Montserrat told me,"most of these pieces were taped at Freddie's home, and some never got far as being given titles. There were two pieces that we really liked, and these were recorded in the studio, but we never got around to editing them,so I WILL NEVER GIVE PERMISSION FOR THEM TO BE RELEASED" (..)"I can't understand Caballe's attitude...
But what's about these two tape-recordings sung in japanese from 1985?????
Holy shit, I would give anything to hear these! Especially the songs with Montserrat!! Her being a 'Super Diva' is right, what an attitude! Perfectionists, both of them...
