anyone still use or collect beta video,i have a couple to swap if interested.

Ah!!! the blessed Betamax Video, A far better quality format of Video than the VHS, but unfortunatly lost out in the "VHS vs Beta" war of the '80's. (simular situation, to the recent BluRay vs HD)
Up untill the digital age, I believe TV stations used to use Beta rather than VHS, just because of the better quality aspect.
Also I have fond memories of Beta, our fist Video recorder in our house was a "Clunky" toploader Beta :-)

Erm, that would be BetaCAM, not Betamax....
Up until a few years ago, BetaCam was still used for recording Standard Def programmes. Now, as you say, they tend to use digital hard drive recorders.

When I was in film school a few short years ago Betamax tapes were still being used.
