talk about underated, bring back that leroy brown is one of Queens underated gems. I think some don't get it because it doesn't have loud drums and guitars. Brilliant tune!....One of my favorites. |

I completely agree! [/img] I love BBTLB. It, along with Flick of the Wrist, really showcased Freddie's creativity, sense of fun, and emerging brilliance as a writer. It's just a truly great song, and the musicalship, not just from Freddie (who is particularly magnificent) is outstanding. A truly amazing song from a truly brilliant album. |

Each time when I listen to it I have a feeling that this song isn't from 70s but something like 30s- 40s. The same with Seaside Rendezvous. Generally- a good, light track. |

Loved it from day one. But, for me, the best song Lord Teeth ever wrote is Lily of the Valley. Precious! |

yeah i love this one too!!! i first heard it when i was 12, didn't rate it much then. but now. i love it!! defo feels like its from the 30s or 40s (like someone said) goodtimes! |

Yeah, i remember in '75 thinking that queen had made a major blunder in not releasing BBTLB as a single. |

I love this song soooooooooooooooo much!! In my opinion, its the best song Fred ever wrote. And thats saying a lot, as he has some amazing songs. Its so cute and camp that you just can't not love it!! |

It's precisely because of tracks like BBTLB, Seaside R, Good Company, even (to a certain extent) Who needs you, that I got into the band I didn't really appreciate the heavy stuff at all when I was a child (perhaps still dont) It's tracks like these that put Queen in the same league as The Beatles - hidden away half way through side 2 there's ususally a hidden gem which (if the band was brave enough to release) could change their public profile completely To their credit - they DID have the courage to release I'm Going Slightly Mad!! |

My jaw literally dropped the first time I saw a live video of this song. Especially the bit where Brian goes nuts on the uke. Top class. |
pittrek 19.12.2009 07:09 |
Any live version of this song reminds me that I'm watching real musicians having real fun on stage. You can actually feel the positive energy |
Rick 19.12.2009 11:29 |
It comes from a top class album. SHA is in my opinion Queen's most varied and interesting album to date. My favourite is In The Lap Of The Gods. God, it's so clever and Roger shines in that one. I even like She Makes Me. Love May's singing and its eerie atmosphere. |
dragon-fly 19.12.2009 13:43 |
I don't believe my eyes. Somebody here actually likes She Makes Me? Thank You! |

Leroy brown could have made a good single, but you could also say that about lap of the gods. |

I love She Makes Me, great to sing along to, lots of long, sustained notes. As for Leroy Brown - great drum track, if it was recorded in one take I am my mothers uncle..... |
dragon-fly 19.12.2009 15:38 |
OMG! People like the song! Ok, to make it short- thank you all! :) |

I agree....Lilly of the Valley is very strong but come on "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" is pretty damn weak...lol |

misfire is another song that some call filler, along with she makes me. someone even called leroy brown filler, I couldn't believe me eyes, that's what made me post this thread. how can someone call a vintage queen song like leroy brown filler?....Misfire is a nice little ditty, not filler nor brillant by any means. Could have fit in side black from queen2 nicely. |
Rick 20.12.2009 04:02 |
Misfire has wonderful guitars and is quite complicated in structure, if you listen carefully. Very clever overall. |
Amazon 20.12.2009 11:06 |
I love Misfire. It's one of my favourite Deacon songs; I think that the way Freddie sang it was truly delightful! I also don't mind She Makes Me, however I don't particularly like In the Lap of the Gods. It's by far my least favourite song on the album and is one of my least favourite Freddie songs, if not my least favourite. I just find it incredibly boring. It doesn't interest me at all. |

dragon-fly wrote: I don't believe my eyes. Somebody here actually likes She Makes Me? Thank You! I like it - it gets bonus points just for having an incredibly cool title - but I think it missed being a uniformly great song by sounding as though it was being played back on slow and by melody and guitar and percussion that was perhaps too focused and simple. I still think it has elements that are interesting and fantastic though, and it's on my shortlist of underappreciated Queen songs. |
DvD 20.12.2009 21:50 |
yeah, I read somewhere (might have been the sutcliffe book) that BBTLB was a filler, and if you ask me, Lily of the Valley was more filler, also She Makes Me is cool because it sort of sounds like early Floyd, and Misfire is just awesome for the fact that it's deaky's first |
