I like lady gaga and was reading about her on wikpedia and discovered that the name Lady Gaga is directly Queen influenced. A producer thought she had a Freddie Mercury type of delivery and started calling her Lady Gaga based off of Roger Taylors, Ragio Gaga. How many other people knew that? |

Yeah, i had heard that but had vaguely assumed she had chosen her name herself. And I'm too lazy to go searching for more info about it! :) |

If it suits them, Maylor will soon claim she was Freddie's favourite singer. |

I did know that, and I'd add that I think she's one of the most gifted, substantial, self aware and ambitious women to have come out of the pop scene in ages. |

Yep I knew that, it was kinda obvious & she said so on the chat show Jonathon Ross & franky its's an insult to Queen (IMO), it actaully really put me off the song 'Radio Gaga' for a while...I just dont like her music at all nor her vidios. |
john bodega 14.12.2009 05:21 |
Couldn't give a fuck about her. If she is a real artist, we'll find out in a few years once she gets the gumption to make something that isn't dreck. |

I don't care much for Lady Ga Ga myself, but I suppose it's a nod of recognition in the right direction that she likes Queen. Anyway, Here is a Queen/Ga Ga Mashup. I think it works :- http://rapidshare.com/files/320714676/Lady_Gaga_vs_Queen_-_Just_Lady-o_Ga_Ga.mp3 Enjoy!!! |

I really don't like her. But do you think it's a bit odd that recent "pop stars" recently appointed Queen or Freddie as a big influence? Mika, Katy Perry, now Lady Gaga. The Queen influence is so vast. They influenced artists as diverse as Metallica, Muse and Lady Gaga. |

Lady Gaga (*Ga Ga, that tart) is a rubbish artist, a shit singer, and her songs aren't much beyond "How can I convey that I like to have sex to people?" Plus one of her eyes is off and that bugs the hell out of me. Now, if the rumours of her being a hermaphrodite are true... well, then at least she'll have one interesting quality about her, yeah? Of course, I'm not supposed to be a tyrant with my views, I always say give 'em a fair chance. I don't much like Adam Bolton, and even if Brian does then all I can do is just accept that for what it is. At least that Lambert kid can sing- what's with Lady Gaga? She like.. talk-sings through half her crap. And (Yes, I will start my sentence with and) I CERTAINLY don't like her saying she was influenced by Queen- because I don't hear it. Yes, Freddie was a viciously sexual character, and he had some sexual songs, but Gaga sort of over-kills it. No chase, y'know? I find it rather dull, and lord does it get tiring with every song being "I like sex, a whole lot." (Which is still more barable than her damn song about the Paparazzi. She's been famous, what, an odd year or two?) |
Joeker 15.12.2009 03:25 |
I'd rather listen to KISS than kiss her. She's a dude anyway. |
Amazon 15.12.2009 04:41 |
I'm neutral about her. I think she's talented to some degree, but I don't have any desire to listen to her. I do like that she listed Freddie as an influence. It shows she has respect and she knows that she didn't emerge from a vacuum. With Mika, whom I do like alot, I'm even more pleased; but even if Lady Gaga was terrible, I would still like that she acknowledges the greatness of Freddie. |

Actually, I quite like Lady Gaga. Her music number one, isn't like all the other BS dreck being pumped out second by second. Her music is just fun to listen to and it's obvious she doesn't take herself too seriously. I think that's where her Queen influence shows itself, she just doesn't take herself too seriously and she doesn't give a damn what other people say about her. She probably lists Queen as an influence because she's a big fan of them! It doesn't mean she's trying to replicate the band and make her music sound like theirs --- it's not even possible for a start! I read that she loved Radio Gaga so much when she was younger, she would sing it all the time and people started calling her "Gaga" from the song, and when it came time to choose a stage name she said "Lady Gaga". Now, I'm not going to lie, that's what made me like her a bit, and I really do like her music, it's hilarious and just fun! Of course I wouldn't expect anything NEAR a Bohemian Rhapsody from her (can we expect that from ANYBODY!?), but for the time being, I'm content with having her music cheer me up. It's just some fun. Not to mention she writes her own music! She actually brings back my faith in new artists today. |

I already knew that. Lady Ga Ga sucks. She doesn't even deserve to be used in the same sentence as. Freddie Mercury (noticed I didn't have them in the same sentence). Freddie Mercury was the best singer/songwriter/musician ever!!!!! Lady Ga Ga claims she sings better than him but she doesn't come anywhere close to having as good a talent as he did. Freddie Mercury has more talent in one of his fingernails than she could ever dream of having in her whole entire lifetime. Enough said. |

If you accept pop as a legitimate form of musical expression - and I do, without owning more than one or two CDs of that genre out of hundreds in my library - then she is both gifted and substantial. She writes and she plays and above all is a performance artist out there hacking brush and blazing paths. Not everything she does works; sometimes it's assuredly a swing and a miss, and I don't so much like her and her work as I utterly respect and believe it. She, like Freddie Mercury and others, has that smell of the sweat of authenticity when someone knows with every fibre of their being what they are meant to do and are driven to success with equal parts hunger and inevitability. She'll never write Bohemian Rhapsody - that's not what she does - but I expect a long and influential career nonetheless. I caught this quick Barbara Walters interview after the fact, and others that appreciate GaGa's work and haven't seen the interview may enjoy it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heA_doHOIFQ |

I doubt that she would have said that. I mean, how dumb would that be? No, I would imagine that she knows her place in the scheme of things. She probably knows that she's no Freddie, but then why would she want to be? Unlike him, she doesn't claim any higher artistic aspirations (she's never going to produce a Bo Rhap or any other great Freddie song), she's about having fun and entertainment. She simply is what she is, and while I don't love her, I do think that she does her thing quite well. |
