Does anyone know if there are any video clips on the web of CLTCL and Under Pressure? I've never been able to find any...
Cheers.
Also, doesn't seem worth starting another topic for but, when was 'Silver Salmon' demo recorded and who wrote it? Odd subject don't you think (unless a metaphor has gone completely over my head)?

Silver Salmon sounds like a Freddie composition to me. It dates back to the early days, but the demo we've heard was recorded in 1977.
I may be wrong but I think this isn't the original audio for CLTCL - Freddie's voice was supposed to be in awful shape and in the bit with the clapping, you can see him mouth 'come on' to the audience but it's not on the audio track.

Perhaps I'm wrong, what do you think?
It was wildly out of sync at the very least, though I've never studied it any further than that. Perhaps Bob or someone more familiar with the body of live work might recognize it as an alternate audio source?
Wow, I remember my parents letting me stay up and watch that episode because the concert in Cleveland was coming up....I recorded it and watched it over and over......what memories.....
Too bad that he had to argue with his boyfriend the night before appearing in American national Television.
I haven't see that vid in a while but I remember his voice cracks badly in the last part of Under Pressure, the "give love" part. Considering that was Queen's final (or one of the last) appearances in TV in the U.S. while being a live entity there, it's kinda sad.
I can imagine someone seeing that performance and thinking "Damn... Freddie's not what he used to be" or thinking that he's a bad live singer just from that performance alone.
I hope most of the TV audience that day managed to catch Queen's performance in Live Aid 3 years later. That must have made up for it :).
I was wondering if this was the boyfriend yelling incident. I remembered it chronicled in the Freestone (?) book - him drinking tea and honey and lemon or something, and hanging his head under a towel and over a steamer the entire next day desperately trying to heal his voice from the hours of hollering. I had it in my head that it was a fight with Jim Hutton, but perhaps it was indeed earlier.

I believe it was mentioned in the Peter Freestone book. I don't remember who he was fighting with but it wasn't Jim Hutton. This was earlier, like you already pointed out.
The other guy's name escapes me, though.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone in this forum kept a record of all of Freddie's lovers.
Come forward!
Fred's boyfriend at the time of the SNL show was New Jersey born Bill Reid. Freddie should have paid for him to take the bus over the George Washington Bridge and be gone with him!!! Come to think of it he should have pushed Reid into the Hudson. Maybe the tide would have taken him back to Jersey.
