In the recent Mojo interview with Brian. Brian States he has not seen Deaky since 2002. I find this rather sad :( I respect John's wishes to put Queen behind him, but to cut himself off from seeing Bri & Roger is a shame. |
john bodega 01.12.2009 01:58 |
It makes sense since he died in 2003. |

I guess since they don't share views on music (or desire to create music?)- they don't have much to talk about. Brian is happy to do what he is doing in music business (plus writing etc.) John probably is happy living his quiet life and can't care less what people think about him. So, it's not so sad. |

This is a bit of a Holy Grail of rock history for me. Why has he made the decisions he's made? They're all still in business together by virtue of the nature of the music industry. Is it odd that they haven't seen each other in 7 years? Is it not odd? Some tend to build narratives around the little bits of things we know to prop up opinions we already have about other things. The only thing that seems certain is that at some point something changed. |

John did not make it to the Freddie memorial. I can't believe he was not invited. IMO he definitely should have been there. Or maybe he blames Freddie for ending his Rock N ROll career so abruptly and forcing him into early retirement. |
Rubbersuit 01.12.2009 15:03 |
Makes sense to me. He's retired and Brian isn't. Why would they see each other? Maybe when they're both retired they'll have coffee sometime, but I imagine there's still a lot of tension right now. |

its not like they don't stay in touch. just because they haven't seen each other for 7 years doesn't mean they don't speak to each other. but i do find it sad that they haven't seen each other for that length of time. |

Brian and Roger has joined Paul Rodgers back in 2004, right? Brian has stated that John didn't want to be part of the whole Q+PR project but that he approved what they were doing. So that's not 7 years, just 5. There's also the possibility of they just talked by phone and didn't see each other personally. |

Something like, "Hi John, Bri here, the new album Absolute Greatest's selling well, should be some money coming your way" lol. |

Deaky is simply far too busy posting anonymously on Queenzone.com to make time to see Brian. All those trolls who people think are Jake are actually Deaky. He has to get his kicks somehow after giving up rock n' roll... |

Pim Derks wrote: I too don't see people I worked with over 10 years ago anymore... so what? Oh, come on. Everybody knows that our beloved Queen were BFFs that got into the music business just out of sheer love and deep respect for the music they loved and each other. Certainly NOT for money. Queen was more than strictly business to them. They were, in a way... (dramatic pause, wait for it)... soulmates. When Freddie sadly left us... (pause, wipe tear from face) John was the only one decent enough to retire from music altogether. I'm sure if Brian and Roger hadn't desecrated Freddie's memory (those greedy bastards!), they would still hang out with John and talk to each other twice a week, like friends... like brothers. ... NOT! hehehe :) |
ilikefreddyguy 02.12.2009 15:47 |
Saying they desecrated Freddie's legacy is an utter load of rubbish. By all means, they're keeping his memory alive. Brian said himself he hadn't planned on continuing Queen, but he couldn't escape her. I mean, give them a break, as much as they let people know no-one's goin to replace Freddie, and as much as they point out that The Cosmos Rocks was dedicated TO FREDDIE they can't escape the bite of idiotic fans. Look at one Queen video one youtube and you're BOUND to run into the "RIP FREDDIE 4EVR PAWL ROGGERS SUX END CANT REPLCE U!1 BRINE AND ROGR SHULD B ASHMED" comments. They haven't done anything wrong but celebrate Fred's life. Mr. Deacon has made his decision to leave the band behind because he probably predicted that it would hit the fan like this- he knew there was no-one like Fredie, and that people werne't going to accept Queen without Fred. I respect that he gave the band up, and hid away at his little farm where-ever it may be, but I have the equal amount of respect for the boys for wiping off their tears and never letting the memory of Merc fade into obscurity... or worse, have more songs remixed by Hollywood records. |

I'm sure Deacy is more than happy enjoying his life to the full and wallowing in the royalties that still continue to stock his bank accounts. Although I'd love to see the 3 of them record together again I'm just happy for all the music that they've made in the past for us to enjoy. Best of luck to Deacy and I'm sure he's having a blast! |

It's been over 7 years since my wife and I have seen Brian. Why isn't that a discussion thread? Seriously.......maybe it's just too hard on both.? John prefers it that way? Brian? They didn't have all that much in common? It happens in life. |
