I was very surprised to find out that the running time of the commentary disc of Absolute Greatest was only about 42 minutes, meaning a lot (if not all) songs are edited (like BoRhap is only 3 minutes). WTF? And it takes about 15 seconds on the first track for the first mention of the musical....
I think the edited running time of the 2nd cd should have been mentioned in the advertising somewhere - I only found out when listening to it and wondering how a song "in the background" could play so much faster - well it doesn't, they just fade it out (and sometimes at the worst possible moments!).... another missed chance at making this release at least a little bit worthwhile.
And to end with a longtime annoyance: when will QPL stop with adding "coming soon"-links to their websites (like the iPhone-icon on the AG-site) when we all know we will never see it going somewhere in our lifetime??

COMING SOON links are ideas put together by their creative team on a Friday afternoon after a 5 minute long brainstorm , just to please the big bosses in London and Montreux, "Britain's highest paid directors". We could easily make a TOP 100 of unreleased coming soon Queen items - should be a great article for Record Collector!
Another World home videos still coming soon on Brians long gone Another World site, Roadworks book still coming soon from Gerry Stickells, Rainbow LP still coming soon from 1974, Earls Court and triple boxed set from 1993, I Want it All book from 2007, alternative miracle album from 1989, BBC tracks coming from - 1996?.... (remember the Let Me live CD? "from the forthcoming album") , freddie mercury longform video from 1992, Bob Harris documentary from 1977, Royal Albert Hall 1998 coming soon, BOXED SETS 2002............
I can't see the point in mention of this CD running. No-one expected that they would talk through the whole track about that track. No-one would listen to this CD just for the song listening purposes. Edits upsets, but they were predictable. Musical references become more and more absurd, zany and droll, I agree.
It was the same old insights into how the songs came about etc. And plugging the musical yet again, There was even an insert in the booklet for the cd about we will rock you, two for the price of one ticket!
And as for coming soon... another compilation on the way surely Queen's Greatest Hits Live. No mention of the fabled box sets either, probably set for release next year - 40th anniversary. What a fucking carry on. I suppose they needed the extra cash for christmas
