I heard about this. Why do they take this long to destroy it? They've had since 1975...why now? Why at all? |

I thought it was hilarious, and think Freddie would laugh his ass off at this one! I look at it this way, the little ones who don't know who the band Queen are, well...they just got their first lesson. |
goinback 25.11.2009 02:18 |
This JUST appeared on YouTube btw...was it deliberately timed as some sort of promotional thing for the greatest hits CD (or with the anniversary of Freddie's death)? |
vonkeil 25.11.2009 05:57 |
loved it!! BEAKER!!!! :)) they must've given consent by the band and/or QP for using the original backingtrack for this. pretty sure fred would have loved this, too! |

Yeah, I thought that about the backing track. I also thought it was great - funny stuff! I dont think "ouch" is necessary - its a good laugh and done lovingly - better than any of the Xfactor versions of Queen tracks, haha! |
Lozzykinz 25.11.2009 08:24 |
oh don't get me wrong, i find it funny! I LOVE the muppets! Just wondered why it took this long I'm guessing it has something to do with the AG release ;D |

That is at least 30 million times better than the "All You Need Is Love" that Brian just played on. |

It's said to be a Thanksgiving gift to the world from The Jim Henson Company and personally I thought it was quite funny. The Ouch was just my way of saying lmao. Won't hurt sales for AG. Here's the article It’s almost two decades since Freddie Mercury died but Queen still keep going. There’s another compilation CD in the shops just in time for Christmas but boy do they know how to sell it. The surviving members of the group popped up on The X Factor the other week to do some middle-aged mentoring to the thrusting young singing hopefuls who duly repaid them by covering some classic Queen hits. Then there’s this. Said to be a Thanksgiving gift to the world from The Jim Henson Company, it’s the Muppets, performing a sensational cover version of Bohemian Rhapsody. It’ll go viral all over the world, everyone will be reminded of the original, and the tills will keep on ker-ching-ing as Queen CDs fly out of the shops.Won’t do the sale of Muppets merchandise any harm either… Happy Thanksgiving all...... |

While there are moments where I went "ha!" or "ha, clever!", overall, meh. I generally don't connect that well with stuff that can primarly be described as 'cute'. Muppets = brilliant. Bo Rhap=brilliant. Muppets+Bo Rhap=not so much. |
Through the eons... 25.11.2009 16:23 |
It was only a matter of time. MSNBC is covering this live as I type. My goodness, I think it's fabulous! What this world needs now is alot more Queen. (especially The Miracle, One Vision, Heaven For Everyone, Is This The World We Created? & Under Pressure) |

There's a link to buy AG with the video. There's got to be a business connection here somewhere. Gack. I get tired of feeling rampantly manipulated. I'm going to listen to Tenement Funster, and just go to my happy place, and then I'm going to bed. Goodnight to the Americas. You too, Muppets for hire. |
Jimmy Dean 26.11.2009 00:52 |
As a Queen *fan* I felt humbled by this. I'm pretty sure Brian, Roger & John all enjoyed it. It doesn't tarnish the Queen legacy in any way... definitely not an "ouch" moment. If anything, Wayne's World turned the song into a farce... This just was extremely creative.. it's absoluetly phenomenal and I hope it makes Queen: Video Hits 3...whenever that finally comes out. |

I really love a bunch of tired sounding no-talent hacks singing a Beatles song to the strains of dryly recorded brass and masked in an unimaginative production. |

"Brian and Roger will now claim Kermit the Frog was Freddie's favorite singer." No, wait. That was somebody else's post! ;) |

As to the rights to use the backing track, ummmm, let's see...... Queen's US Label is Hollywood Records.... The Muppets are a Jim Henson production..... methinks there is maybe a mouse involved here somewhere??????? |

It would be fun to see it get to Christmas number 1 instead of the x factor. Imagine that, X factor topped by the muppets!! |

I've just said to myself I MUST watch it till the end, but I can't, really. But I'm getting better, this time I've seen almost 90 seconds. Disgusting piece of junk, makes me feel shame that I'm a Queen fan :( |

Disgusting piece of junk, makes me feel shame that I'm a Queen fan :( They can't sink much lower. Queen+The Muppets, I can't believe it. They were a rock band, for crying out loud. Ten years from now, Queen's legacy will be tarnished by the greed and desperation going on. And when the "Great Book Of Rock" is written you can blame Roger & Brian for keeping Queen out of the top echelon inhabited by The Beatles, The Who, Zep, etc. You know, bands that don't sink to this sort of level. If you have to bastardise this song in particular, then at least do the decent thing and release it as a charity single. |

I think its rather cute, and I love animal. Its fun, and though they are obviously promoting AG, at least its with something that people will enjoy and can have a laugh at. Even my friend, who hates Queen, loves this video. 'OUCH' is not really necessary I don't think. |

When I was a child, I asked my grandfather why radio towers and such had red lights on them. His reply was that they built the towers so they could put red lights on them so the planes wouldn't hit them. I pondered that for a couple of days until I worked out the obvious logical flaw. Hey, I was six! Anybody want to take a stab at what this has to do with Absolute Greatest and The Muppets? |

The Bohemian Rhapsody Muppets video is quite amusing. Seriously, I'm glad they are keeping interest high in the Bo Rhap through spoofing it. It's one of those songs that is so versatile and original that it just has to be spoofed. Most songs we get in the charts today just sound the same. It's just synthesisers, singing about relationships and banging bass beats. It's hard to find songs like Bo Rhap - in fact, I don't even know one that I could compare to it. Bohemian Rhapsody is a classic. It's not just a song, it's musical art. And it was the song that made music videos universally popular for single releases so it was sort of a landmark in musical history. |
