There's a more complete version of the interview HERE, I have to say he's looking in pretty good shape - I'd been told that he'd put a lot of weight on but he still looks pretty sharp.

Kind of makes you wonder why people were upset with his retirement after 1991.
And you think YOUR fingers hurt after a few years of playing?
He made a couple of "appearances" after that, but for all intents and purposes, he was done in 91. It's not like he was in the Studio for three weeks during Made In Heaven. He had a laptop. Brian and Roger had a laptop. The album was made. John probably was playing in his bathrobe. I don't think he spent 91-95 thinking up his bass parts.
If he had retired in '91...then why did he & Roger consider carrying on Queen w/o Brian, work on Made in Heaven (w/ Roger), play out live w/ Roger...and other things. He was always the most dormant (as we all know) during Queen's hiatus', he didn't completely drop out of the radar until after '97. I'm fairly certain of that.
My knowledge of John's involvement w/ Queen & his retirement come from interviews I heard w/ Roger on DaveRFuller's YouTube page. In case anyone was wondering.
I find the previous comment saying that John was a d--d c--t very offensive.John was a great member of the band and wrote some great songs aswell as being a ace bass player and a nice chap. If it was meant to be a joke i cry for you !
