It seems that Roger is going to do a tour next Spring with Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters.
The intention seems to be to cover 'Queen to Led Zeppelin and everything in between that rocks'.
I'm loving the thought of this project - it seems to be purely for fun, and the kind of thing that Roger doesn't hesitate to do.
On the other hand, I simply can't imagine Brian ever doing something like this - off the cuff, spontaneous, no record to plug etc...; I feel that he will be immensly jealous and would want to do somehting like this, but simply wouldn't allow himself to for fear of failure, critical comment, things not being a well oiled planned machine etc...
Without doubt the most exciting news from the Queen camp for a long time and not one response. I guess everyone is in the free download section again...
Anyway, this looks amazing -- much more exciting than Q+PR. Looks like Roger just wants to have a bit of fun -- something Brian really should consider, instead of trying to set the world to rights. All sorts of options open up -- live cd, dvd, concert downlaods, guest appearances. My nipples explode with desire...

Nah, I'm right here :). I agree, this is great "news", I'd be thrilled to go see that show.
Can't wait for this to happen - though I'm afraid Roger will once more pull some lads out of a local pub, making it sound cheap and corny - making it sound like the SAS Band. I just can't understand why Brian and Roger can't go out together - I'm sure they must've felt the response from the crowd when they did their short set during the 2008 tour?!
Brian's relationship with the Foo Fighters has always been a bit off putting to me. Musically it makes perfect sense, but the Foo's association with 'Alive & Well' about 10 years ago was a bit of a punch in the face to Fred's legacy of increasing public knowledge about AIDS and the importance of self protection and HIV testing. The 'Alive & Well' group are so called AIDS denialists who discourage the use of drugs to combat HIV infection, and who question the validity of HIV tests and indeed don't even belive HIV causes AIDS, or that AIDS is a valid diagnosis. Most believe that the group's founder effectively killed her own daughter by refusing AZT during the pregnancy, breast feeding her and then going on to never test or treat her during her short lifetime. The founder eventually passed away from what most believe was AIDS related pneumonia almost a year ago.
The Foos can be seen briefly near the beginning of a film the group produced:
The Foos distanced themselves from Alive and Well. I don't blame them for believing something wrong in the less informed days of AIDS. Remember when we thought you could get it from a toilet seat?
People's ideas and understanding change.
As for the tour, sounds awesome! Absolutely awesome. Hope they come to Oz.
this is more than exciting news ! can't wait listening or even flying to London and attend to one of these gigs!
the collaborations on stage between the Foos and Roger+Brian in the last couple of years have been really good (the VH1 Rock Honors performace of WWRY with the 3 drum kits was a blast!).
I'm sure having Taylor Hawkins on board will ensure fun and musical quality !

If you want to call 2000, the year the sold out Hollywood benefit concert was held, up to late 2007 when they finally bowed to public pressure and removed 'Alive & Well' from their list of supported charities 'the less informed days of AIDS', well, umm, OK then.

I had no idea about the Foos and Alive & Well - I'm disgusted.
I'm not disgusted, it was just really unfortunate. I'm sure when musicians invest in causes it's with the best intentions. It was just a really bad message to get behind, and that bad message had to have been leveraged by the Foos new relationship with Queen at about the same time. Sadly, there were almost certainly consequences for at least a few people, and I hope they learned a lesson of sorts.
Is there any concrete evidence that this collaboration will actually happen? It feels like something a Queenie would make up for attention or to get other Queenies' hopes up. BTW, I'm not accusing anyone of doing that, I'm just stating my opinion.
I WILL actually book a flight for that, when it happens!
And I agree that I would prefer Brian to stay at home. They need a heavy shredder, some unknown kid that can kick some rock ass... (mail me, Rog! ;-)
