In the late 1990's, an extraordinarily talented and perceptive young playwright, Charles Messina, wrote and produced in New York, "Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God." link
This play shows a remarkable understanding of the life, struggles and joy of the man who became Freddie Mercury.
Currently, a Los Angeles based publisher is interested in publishing this play. We need to be sure he knows how much interest there is in this play and you can help by emailing him (Jason Goldberg) at jgoldberg@originalworksonline.com
I hope all of you can see or read this sensitive portrayal of Freddie's life sometime in the near future. I hope you will email Jason Goldberg today so that the play will be on its way to reaching a global audience.--Lia Sargent
Looks like commercial enterprise for third party vested interest so no way !
Its better instead to support the Official We Will Rock You - The Musical and theatre where proceeds also go to band and noble causes such as the Mercury Phoenix Trust. It too is based on Freddie and sometimes features surprise visits and performances from Queen+. Anyhow hopefully a WWRY movie will coming soon.
If he/she/they want to publish the play and are looking for prospective markets then its up to them to prepare a proper projection/forecast and do their own marketing and promotion respectively. Collating fans emails addresses for a database would seem like a shrewd sales pitch.
If they arent aware of the success of Queen you might want to refer them to the biggest selling rock band of all time.

Have you actually sat through a performance of We Will Rock You?

Of course I have and enjoyed it thoroughly.......after all it’s just meant as light hearted entertainment.
Better if they make a movie which everybody's waiting since Freddie has gone. 18 years past away and almost nothing has been done for Freddie as a Big Legend . Everything else made only for fame to make money only!!
hi, i,am so happy finally someone remember freddy . it will never be another freddy mercury , so sad that hi went too soon but hi leave us the best of his music and inspiration, freddy u will live for ever in my heart.. im sending this mess. in response and support to j. goldberg allways, viva freddy mercury por siempre
I'm not aware of this play in particular, but I've always thought Freddie (and Queen) would make a first rate subject for a biopic. There's so many great angles and hooks in the story, and in the times he lived and died in. Almost certainly never to be made, sadly. I can dream.
Awesome another musical on Freddie's life and times. Would some one please put these theatrics to DVD to that we that will not be making it to NYC any time soon enjoy the festivities. Think of all the revenues that will pour in from all corners of this globe.
Well newbies, I disagree. Nobody really cares about Freddy anymore. Brian was the brains of this operation anyways. Yet no one wants to do a movie about him. He has much more going anyways.
Galileo Figaro Magnifico. It's just jibberish, anyway. Just got lucky.
Has Fredee ever been named chancellor? I don't think he even got his degree.
Did he play for THE Queen? No that was Brian. So what if The Queen is too far out of it to even know what was going on, I saw video clips.
Who's played more live shows? Heck Guns & Roses were Brian's Special Guest for one tour. Who was Phred's? Marillion? Level 42?
How much has Fready donated for AIDS research? He's sure is a lot more responsible for it's rapid growth in the late 80's. Brian's smart enough to fool around with a married woman who has a pretty good career!!!
How many books has Pfreddie wrote? Wait, scratch that. How many books has Pfreddie co-wrote?
The hell with The Freddie Play or WWRY. Where is THE BRIAN MAY SHOW? He deserves at least that. There could be little skits and segments, like Brian's Soapbox or Clubbing Seals with Brian May. You wouldn't need to hire Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt, only Brian May could play Brian May... no one else comes close. Well, maybe that guy from Mel Gibson's Jesus movie.
